New Orleans signs restricted free agents Hilton, Holland
The Saints officially have retained both of their restricted free agents, signing tight end Zach Hilton and offensive guard Montrae Holland to one-year tender offers, reportedly at $721,600 each.
Both players received some interest in the free-agent market, but neither received any offers from other teams. It would have been difficult to pry either player from New Orleans, which has big plans for both fourth-year veterans. Hilton, 25, had a breakout season last year, catching 30 passes for 360 yards and a touchdown over the final seven games after replacing injured starter Ernie Conwell. Both tight ends should see significant action in Coach Sean Payton's West Coast-style offense. Holland, 25, has started 30 games over his young career and arguably was the team's most consistent guard last season. He will be back in the starting lineup this season now that the Saints have released veteran Kendyl Jacox. VIRTUAL SEATS: The Saints have added a feature to their team Web site (www.neworleanssaints.com), allowing fans and potential ticket buyers to see a virtual three-dimensional view from different seats at the Superdome. In the past, the Saints would host events where fans could walk through the stadium to pick the seats they liked best. But because of construction inside the Superdome, the Saints found a more high-tech alternative. http://www.nola.com/sports/t-p/index...3137079070.xml |
