Bush Could Sign Thursday
I'm a Hawk guy but I am preparing myself to accept Mario...
-------- The breakthrough in the talks is said to have come Tuesday night, during long negotiating sessions between the Texans and Bush's representatives. The Texans played the situation just right, using defensive end Mario Williams as leverage against Bush. Plus, with the looming House-Gate controversy, Bush's people knew that if he didn't go No. 1, he likely would have slid to No. 4, the spot the New York Jets currently hold. Dropping from No. 1 to No. 4 would have cost Bush millions. One of the ironies of the whole negotiation is that Bush has turned out to be easier to sign than Mario Williams, who expressed utter indifference at the idea of becoming the No. 1 overall pick. In fact, the idea of going to New Orleans is said to have excited Williams more than the idea of going to Houston. Williams is enamored with the New Orleans coaching staff, wants to play in the city, and was hoping he would land there. It's no cinch he does. It's still possible that the Saints could opt for Virginia offensive tackle D'Brickashaw Ferguson, who is expected to go in the top four picks Saturday. But multiple general managers believe Williams is the No. 1 prospect in this draft. http://www.nfl.com/nflnetwork/story/9399253 |

RE: Bush Could Sign Thursday
Chris Mortensen did a segment on one of the local Atlanta sports talk radio show yesterday. He stated that the Saints were leaning towards Hawk.
My issue with Williams remains: unless he is a player so special that he would redefine the position he plays (think Lawrence Taylor), that the Saints need to think about filling holes. It's an issue of fit. For that reason the only two players I think the Saints should be considering are Hawk and D'Brick. SFIAH |

what to do what to do. saint fan i would have to agree, unless he is that type of player we have no need there and see no reason when we only have two first day picks if we don't trade down. that doesn't make a lot of sense. here is a question, with all the recent talks of us trying to unload some veterans do you think we are trying to get another first day pick if we can't trade down? that is the feeling i have been getting. the pick to me for williams just doesn't make a lot of sense unless we are letting grant go. still like some other people have said on here why let a guy go who can play for someone you are not positive on. grant may have had a down year last year but even then the guy is still a very solid starter. i just don't understand the pick if we make it unless he is like saintfan said a player that comes along only so often

As noted yesterday, New Orleans’ officials have been steadfastly tight-lipped about their intentions with the second pick at this year’s draft where the Saints are expected to chose between NC State’s Williams and Virginia OT D’Brickashaw Ferguson. While Williams is probably the better overall prospect, there have been some very faint whispers in the past couple of days that the Saints may be leaning toward Ferguson who fills a much bigger need. http://www.gbnreport.com/index.htm thank you lord for hearing our prayers |
