absolutely dismal timing. I've complained about this FO shooting themselves in the foot, but moves like this only make me think they're aiming higher.

Martin is lucky to have a job, much less potentially competing for a starting role. This isn't a good thing.

Could be more here than meets the eye. We could use Bouman or Amac in a trade of some kind. I really think if Amac has shown any type of progression from last season we could use him as trade bait. He had lots of looks last year and was projected to go in the first three rounds and the only reason he slipped so far was because of character conflicts. I am not sure Bowman would fit into this senario but who knows. Its all madness and what you think will happen hardly ever does. I love this game and I love this team. WHO DAT!

THe only way he "competes" for a starting job is if Brees gets hurt. And if that does happen, I would much rather have Jamie Martin under center than Todd Bouman. Obviously Martin's not a star in this league, that's why he's a backup. Every team has to have a backup who can come in and play if the starter gets hurt, and this guy has proven that he can do it. You can't compare him to starting QBs. But, comparing him to other backups, he is very good. He went 4-1 last year with the Rams which is pretty damn good. He completed 124-177 passes. Bouman completed 68 of 122 passes. This guy is definitely an upgrade, and although the timing is surprising with the draft on Saturday, I'm glad we got him. Besides, were we really trying to fool people into thinking that we would take Leinart? I think not.

Regardless, if Brees goes down, we are in a bind...plain and simple.

Just get rid of Bouman all-together.

I don't think the Jets are interested in QB anymore, so trying to state that we are going to take a QB with the second pick still wouldn't help with a trade. Leinart's stock, for some reason(Maybe coaches actually watched game film last week instead of ESPN highlights) has dropped considerably, and may fall to Oakland. The Jets want either Da Brick or Super Mario so they know that no matter what happens they will get their man. Martin is a solid back up, and will help our team considerably. I really think the Saints are content with drafting #2. Who they draft will be a huge surprise I think, because it WON'T be Williams. I have faith that Sean Payton is not a complete media whore, and will select Da Brick.

Agreed. I think he means business.

WHAT ARE YOU SMOKING? Lucky to have a job? he was 4-1 as a starter, including a win against a Playoff team in the Jags, and when he came in at a backup role he was on fire. That is what we need in a back up. Someone who won't lose us games just because our starter is injured. Give some logic before making damning comments.

ooh you're so right, he beat Houston (only throwing 3 passes, so that one really doesn't count - Ryan Fitzpatric is credited with this win), the Saints (who beat themselves), Dallas (after they got smited from the playoffs and mailed it in) and Jacksonville (who also beat themselves - Martin threw 3 interceptions), and managed to lose to SanFran. He played exceptionally well in fill in position when games were out of reach, and still eked out a 83 passer rating. mmm. I stand by my assessment, he's only "good" when facing a terrible team or the team's in prevent defense and he's got "the greatest show on turf" receivers. Lucky to have a job, though better than Bouman, who's luckier. Hell, he did that for the Rams and they're not interested. Want some more damning comments?

Passed up the Ramsey for this clown, still perplexes me.
