So how bad did the Texans screw up?

They say they made the pick to shore up the D....last time I checked that D was Robinson, no much past that, and now they can add williams (a maybe by many standards and lists).

Is this a smart pick for them? Does it address the issues they had, or seriously needed to handle?

They didnt screw up, they gave us the serious "hook up"

feel the same way...guess it's just easier to say when you aren't still hoping we don't pick Williams.

at this post rate, I may get a fourth star by tomorrow!

well there were other teams that wanted him... at one even. I think they couldn't move down and the best thing to do was lock him up contract wise and pick em.

I guess if they feel like they're defense is that bad, then it's a good decision. However, passing up on Reggie Bush without getting a trade or something just makes me scratch my head. I wouldn't have done it, but of course, I'm not on the Texans payroll. O, and I think Mario's way overrated.

I would've understood had they picked D'Brick instead of Reggie because their line is terrible, but Mario "I look so much like Peppers in uniform everyone thinks I can play like Peppers" Williams?
Poor Texans fa.. nah f*** them..

The move really surprises me. It actually looks like something the Saints would do in earlier years. I think the Saints are just saying they are going to pick Bush so they can get more calls. You know they are going to wait until the last second before they choose.

But what happens with Deuce if Reggie is in the Dome? Deuce isn't going to be around for too long. I would rather keep Deuce and trade down. The Texans decided not to mess with Bush. They do have a pretty good RB now anyway.

Same with the Saints. I hope we trade down and get both of the Jets' 1st rounders plus some.

The Texans in my opinion really blew it. Mario Williams was known for half a season. Reggie Bush has been in a league of his own for 3 years. But, only time will tell.

First, Bush never handled the ball more that 25 times in any game at USC so the jury's out as to his durability. Secondly, Williams is a stud that not only can play defensive end but defensive tackle as well. I'm convinced that had he been available the Saints would have snatched him up. Forget the comparisons to Peppers. Peppers doesn't weigh 295. Williams is more like Darren Howard with major speed and quickness. How do you pass on a guy that big that's that fast? I don't.

I'm just not sold on Bush. Here in California I've seen several SC games and he does make people look stupid. In fact he's got a lot of Barry Sanders moves but he's unproven as to how tough he is. And he also had Lendale White there. Quite a one-two punch. Bottom line, I'm not sure he's an every down back and if I'm not sure of that, I'm not using a first pick on him, let alone first overall. Bush is a lot like Tomlinson except he was out there on every down in college. Bush was part of a running back platoon system at SC. We don't know how many hits he can take but we do know he's gonna get hit.

My football phliosophy is simple: defense first, offense second. Almost every single successful team has started out by putting together a no-holes defense. Offense is fun to watch but ask Colts fans how far it'll get ya. It worked for the Rams...for a while but they hardly ended up a dynasty.
