Tue, 29 Apr 2003 02:37:17 -0700 The Charlotte Observer reports the Carolina Panthers could pursue free agent WR Marcus Robinson (Bears). Better hope that this doesn't happen. Dyson, Robinson, Delhomme, Stephen Davis, and 1st round draft pick Jordon Gross all added this year? Plus Muhammed, and their young talented defense. Mark my word. Watch out for Carolina. |

It didn\'t take John Fox long to get their defense working at a reasonable level again. He is definitely adding the missing pieces to their offensive puzzle. I totally agree with that statement.

Amazing how just last year all the \"experts\" called the NFC South the weakest division out there.
Now it looks like all the teams in it may have to kill each other just to make the playoffs. Welcome to the NFL SEC... |

Panthers | Robinson a Target?
I remember a few weeks back I said that the Saints could realistically wind up last in the NFC South this year. While I hope it doesn\'t happen, I think it is a real possibility. Some people in here... GATOR... Just busting your balls Gator... said there was no way.
I think this is even more clear now. The NFC South should be head and shoulders above the other conferences we face this year. I expect most NFC South teams to have a pretty good record out of conference and then just beat the crap out of each other in conference. With that in mind, we split with Carolina last year. So far I think they\'ve improved their team more than we\'ve improved ours. Just think... you tell me who did better in free agency and the draft. We brought in TJ, Ruff, Ambrose, and Sullivan on D. They brought in Delhomme, Stephen Davis, Kevin Dyson, Ricky Proehl, and Gross... and they still may add Marcus Robinson. Their problem area was offense, ours was defense. I\'d say they\'re winning this race. |

Our advantage over Carolina has to be our defense coming together quicker than there offense. Our offense came together ridiculously fast, but will it be the same for Carolina? If we can punch them in the teeth early in the year, itll be much easier to take to them down again 3-4 weeks later.

Panthers did not get Robinson according to Sportsline.com:
http://cbs.sportsline.com/nfl/story/6347519 Ravens agree to one-year contract with Robinson OWINGS MILLS, Md. -- Former Chicago wide receiver Marcus Robinson has agreed to terms with the Baltimore Ravens. Robinson, released by the Bears two weeks ago, is entering his seventh year in the NFL and has 187 career receptions for 2,695 yards and 20 touchdowns in 28 starts. Robinson had 21 catches last season after missing all of 2001 following knee surgery. \"Our experiences with players coming off surgery and the second year they seem to be able to get back to the level of performance they were playing at before the surgery,\" Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome said. \"If that is the case with Marcus, this will be a really nice addition for us.\" |
