The pick: Roman Harper, DS, Alabama
Scouts take: Taking Harper here isn't a good move. The Saints have far greater needs, and Harper doesn't have great upside. Though he is smart and plays with a non-stop motor, he doesn't have great athletic ability or size. If New Orleans wants to start grooming a possible replacement for the inconsistent and aging Jay Bellamy, drafting a safety with more potential would have made more sense.

I especially love all the Bellamy replacements that can't ever manage to play well enough to get Bellamy off the field.

We're so good at picking safeties.

I hope we get them cheaper when we sign them a dozen at a time.
