If we take the picks for what they are...B overall
Nice depth added...Harper and Haas may show that we are for real in dealing Smith and Stallworth, though I hope not. Harper pick is the onlyone that stumps me...and that's just for where it was. I think he could have been gotten at a later pick...but when combined with the multiplier of Faine, not bad at all. Everyone else is good depth in areas we needed it. No big names (except that guy named Bush everyone keeps telling me to like ) but good depth all around. |

poppa i think the fact that we didn't have a third is what made us take him there. not sure but it sounds logical

makes sense, but I have to question not trading back again. Prolly was on another team's radar and didn't wantto take the risk. With this draft, I'd find it believable.
Either way, we got the picks, plus two vets that fill holes for us..then there is Bush (anyone know when I can get one of his jerseys? I mean since I burned my Brooks one, I have room ) |

RE: Draft Evaluation
1. Bush - Up just because he's the best player in the draft. Down because we didn't need a runningback.
2. Harper- Down. How many safeties do we have again and who's this guy? 3. Evans - Down. Division 2 OT... not saying he's not good or won't be good, we passed on some players with great upside to select him. No one even commented on the guy... probably didn't even know who he was. 4. Ninkovich - Down. DE... with Orien Harris still on the board, this was not a need pick. 5. Hass - Up. Need position receiver with good hands who could develop into another Joe Jurevicius. Highly productive and proven throughout his career. 6. Lay - Up. 6th round pick and fills a need a corner. Probably will never be a starter butt it's the 6th round. If he can contribute on special teams, then it won't be a wasted pick. Maybe if he starts working out with Law, he'll be a decent nickel corner down the road. 7. Strief - Up. Loved the guy. Need position and provides good depth at OT. Better than what people give him credit. Pick #1 one was a success because you can't complain about passing up on Bush. Rounds 6 and 7 was outstanding. Everything in between blew but I'll root for them once they put on our uniform. Netting Thomas and Faine compensated for those selections a tad bit. Time to move on and focus on the season... no point in being sour for the next month or so. Healthy Lyman > Hass... by a landslide. |

Overall not bad could have been better but not bad. We still need to pick up a starting caliber cornerback.
