Undrafted Free Agent Eugene Signed
The Saints also reached an agreement Sunday, as soon as the draft ended, to sign Grambling State's record-setting quarterback, Bruce Eugene, to a rookie free-agent contract.
Eugene put up stunning passing numbers at Grambling, once throwing for 618 yards and seven touchdowns in a 50-7 blowout of Prairie View A&M last season. He threw for 4,408 yards and 56 touchdowns in the Southwestern Athletic Conference last season. "We're excited about him," Mueller said, noting that one of the Saints' goals was to find a young quarterback with potential that they could try to develop. "He's a New Orleans kid. He was a guy we certainly targeted and we certainly wanted." http://www.centredaily.com/mld/centr...s/14468721.htm |

He is a player at the quarterback position who posses some excellent upside and ability
He is a quarterback I have been privileged to watch in game action only a few times, who possess excellent pocket presence and awareness along with a brilliant football IQ, who throws a tight spiral with excellent placement on his balls, which allows his receivers to gains extra (YAC) He is a pocket passer who looks to throw first and scramble out of necessity secondly, he has a good knack for keeping his eyes down field even as the pocket is collapsing, and who is willing to absorb oncoming hits by defenders to complete passes upfield He also has the uncanny ability to shuffle his feet inside the pocket to avoid incoming rushers to complete passes, with the arm strength to throw all the necessary throws, including an assortment of side arm throws, causing defenses to defend the entire field He has the versatility to throw inside or outside the pocket very effectively, with the ability to extend passing plays with his feet, and he posses the quickness to avoid would be tacklers inside the pocket to scramble and make valuable yards down field However, it is urgent that he lose a good amount of weight and improve his conditioning if he is considering to have a career at the next level, if he were to dedicate himself in the weight room and tighten his body up, he could be a real steal for a NFL team! http://www.fftoolbox.com/nfl_draft/p...rospect_ID=561 |

I'm a Grambling fan, but I did catch part of the "Bayou Classic", where he put up some obscene numbers. I think that this guy is a really good pick-up, especially as a UFA (Undrafted Free Agent).

30 of 47. 473 yds, 6tds 0int, and that wasn't his best game of the year. LOL
Eugene broke the NCAA Division I record for career touchdown passes with 140. In addition to the NCAA touchdown record, Eugene also set the Grambling State single-season records with 56 toucdown passes, 4,928 yards and 305 completions. |
