Another Power Back?
Even with Bush do you think we should be looking for another power back for inbetween the tackles?
I vote yes |
RE: Another Power Back?
What for? Even with Deuce and Bush we have Bennett. If my memory serves me right Bennett is a rocket that usually runs right up the middle.

RE: Another Power Back?
Our running backs on offence are our safeties on defense. We have Bush, Duece, Bennett, Stecker, Joseph, McAfee, and Karney. We don't need anymore backs
|
Deuce isn't power back enough?

We don't need anymore RB's, I think we have a very good bunch of them now..
Bennett was a big plus when we signed him, I think he'll have a big season this year with the Saints. IMO |

If I'm Payton all three of them would have a big part in the offense, always would have fresh legs in the lineup...

Well, i only see Bennett getting extended work if Deuce goes down for 2 or 3 games. Then Bennett takes Deuce's role and gets 15-18 carries and Bush still does his thing. One thing i want to point out, the two best sets of hands on our team came out of this draft in Bush and Hass.
|
In all this I see stecker as the odd man out. Bennet will most likely get 3-5 touches a game, He'll provide Duece with a break while still allowing Bush to move into the slot and open up the field.
|
Hass will workout very well for us I believe..
|
Why would we need another power back? We have Deuce....and with Bush we will now have the Southern version of thunder & lightning.
|
Bennett was signed because we never dreamed Houston would give us Bush. Bennett is a rocket but he is not a power back. Bush will never survive many years of pounding the middle. Duce is our one and only true power back (TB) inbetween the tackles, Now with bush, thank you Houston, on the roster I do not see the $$ sense in keeping both. Fan sense yes, money no. In two years we will have a choice to make, or at least start thinking about, what to do because of the $$ tied up in the backfield. The time frame will be in how long Bush's contract is for. This is an issue I think we discussed in another thread, and time will come when have to choice. Is it better now to get a back that can possible step in when and if Duce is no longer on the team. I really doubt (seriously) we would trade Bush if he can stay healthy and do half of what we think he can do. Duce has a chance because with Bush the D can not line 8 in the box. Same with Brees.
If both stay and can keep healthy i will happy. I just do not think Bush is a every down back. He is to good to keep in the TB position only. The only other thing I can hope for is Karney get the chance to show what he can do. Who know we could have a Larry Zonka type in the waiting and Bush can be our Mercury Morris. |
