“I've been throwing for almost four weeks,� Brees said. In that the beginning of May was his target date to begin throwing following his shoulder surgery in January, Brees was told that must mean he remains ahead of schedule in his rehabilitation. He laughed and said with no small trace of sarcasm: “Only about a month.� “This is where I've got to smile on the inside and not say any more,� he said. “I'm just going to have to shock the world in a few months.� He undoubtedly included in that a shocking of the Chargers brass, which in February allowed him to leave as a free agent.
