Over/Under

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; seen this topic on an LSU board... thought it was pretty interesting... 1,100 rushing yards for Reggie Bush in 2006? 1,500 total yards for Reggie Bush in 2006? 13 games as the starter at QB, Drew Brees? 11 total sacks ...

Bush will not rush for 1,100 yards, but he will have over 1,500 total yards.
Brees hopefully starts more than 13 games.
I doubt the LB's will get more than 11 sacks...unless we run some aggressive blitzing scheme.
Payton for 5 years, thats a tough one.
I will take a push on the 7 wins.

No to both of those.

13 games as the starter at QB, Drew Brees?
Yup. With at least 20 TDs and better than a 2 to 1 TD/INT ratio and a completion percentage in the mid 60's.

11 total sacks from our linebackers.
No unless there is a Buck type LB blitzing scheme like Clemons had a few years ago.

5 seasons as head coach, Sean Payton?
The cards are cloudy on this one
7 regular season victories.
But not here. The pre Katrina Saints were an 8-8 team. The defense was improved last year. However, their goal this year needs to be to get the rushing defense near 100 YPG.
The offense will be more explosive and efficient this year.

I think the Saints will beat each of their other 4th place NFC opponents. Also I think they'll split with the other 3 divisions they must play. That translates into 9 wins.

RE: Re: Over/Under

1100 to 1500 in total yardage is what I would expect. 600 rushing and 500 recieving, plus some in spot duty as a KR. He is good for a min of 70 yds, a game on average.
11 sacks is duable if the DT play better. X-Philli Steak guy is key. He could turn out to be the key to rebounding from last years drop into disgrace, A true SLB for once will go a long way to helping.
13 games for Bress? Hope it is the last 13 not the first 13.
5 years of payton? cloudy I agree but he has broken some of the cloud cover. Stormy to partly cloudy now
7 wins? We played well all year last year. hung in and took alot tuff loses. Blown out what twice. I think we are better now than last year so 8-8 at the min due to chemistry. If it clicks 10 to 11 is very possible. So nine is in the middle. Agreed, saint fan in atlanta hell. boy that must sux

I'm thinking under 1100 yards rushing, but I do think he'll go over 2000 total yards because I'm imagining his role as one such that he lines up in the slot for the first two downs, and then is our third down back.

13 games as the starter at QB, Drew Brees?
God I hope so, and I think he will. The guy is already throwing, about 4-6 weeks ahead of schedule. We've all seen the kinds of things he's been doing to get ready for this season and to make sure that everybody's together and on the same page. I think he'll start every game and have a good season (3000 yards).

11 total sacks from our linebackers.
I still think I'm going to say under here, even despite getting Fujita and Simmons. Fujita isn't much of a pass rusher, and while Simmons is one of the fastest linebackers in the league, I just can't see him getting that many. And I still think Colby Bockwoldt is awful, and if he even tried to get a sack the QB would probably stiff arm him to the ground.

5 seasons as head coach, Sean Payton?
Definitely over. If an incompetent coach like Jim Haslett who instilled no discipline or drive in his team could last so long, I definitely think a guy like Payton who seems to be concerned with doing all of the little things right will be here for a while.

7 regular season victories.
Maybe it's just springtime optimism, but I think over. Like everybody's been saying, we lost a lot of games last year because of one or two plays. We lost the biggest turnover and dumb decision maker perhaps in the history of the game, to be replaced with one of the best leaders and smartest QBs in the league right now. We also have a revamped LB corps and a guy named Reggie Bush.
