Bush last night on Jimmy Kimmel..time to show me
recap of what was said..
Said he toured the 9th ward and said it was devastating. Made him realize he's playing a lot more than a football game, he's playing for the city. Kimmel interrupted him and said "But you're keeping the money right?" Bush laughed, then said "No actually, we're going to donate.." Then Kimmel cut him off again to tell another joke. Bush talked a ALOT about endorsements ok..honeymoon is over...the line about touring the 9th ward..how many times are we gonna hear that?? It's like he's a robot or something..and frankly i don't care about your adidas contract or subway or i dunno..friggin trojan condoms whatever..time to show us now..i know this ain't the 60's and it's about the money also and if i were him..i would be enjoying this because you dream of this and now it's a reality..but it's time to produce something because really..bush hasn't shown us anything yet and jimmy kimmel can bite me..even though bush was saying the exact same line about our city for like the fourth time..kimmel cuts him off to talk about the money...twice!! america no longer cares about what happened to our city and i don't think bush does either now..if july comes and bush is IN camp with a contract and september comes and he's rackin up points then i'm GLAD to put my foot in my mouth but until then..show me reggie..i wouldn't mind being wrong about this |
I agree with you. Until he signs, all the good talk is just that, talk.
|
Sounds like Bush got to talk a little more than his pre-draft interview with Conan on NBC. What a joke that was.
8) |
A) Bush hasn't spent much time here yet, so he can't make things up to say about the city.
B) Like you said, and like I noticed, when he started to get in to what plans he had to donate money he was cut off. Kimmel's a comedian. He wasn't trying to do a 20/20 article. No reason to be so hard on Bush. He's been nothing but class since we picked him. |
I thought it was going to be much worse. I like Jimmy Kimmel...and i know he is a comedian...so i was expecting him to be blasting the Saints and New Orleans and he didnt. So i thought the interview was fine.
|
uhm you were watching the Jimmy Kimmel show and you didn't expect jokes??? I tought it was pretty fun actually. And you also have to expect players to tow the company line and say the political correct things to say...

What would you like Bush to say about the Katrina situation that would sound more sincere since he's been here for only a handful of days?
Endorsements are endorsements for the purpose of endorsing. Let the guy make himself as marketable as possible. Let him make his money. Let him have a reason to be satisfied being a Saint, and a player in a small NFL market. Let him have no reason to wish to be in another city. |
seriously... we just drafted the guy and you're already starting to blast him... geez...
|
The guy is a 20 something kid who has been tossed into the limelight and titled the Savior of the Cresent City and he has been a Saint all of a week. This was probably the first time the kid has been to NO in his life. Give him a break, would you rather him make stuff up. This is his dream and we are lucky to even have him. We could be staring at the Texans forums dreaming about the what if's.

Good lord I don't like this....it feels like Ricky all over again. I'm talking abour the whole "savior" title. Now all we need is for Bush to wear sexy female lingerie and take a picture with payton wearing a bath robe for the cover of ESPN.
Note: Payton will be holding a pipe that blows out bubbles. Its a good character thing ya know? |

What we really need is for Master P to negotiate Reggie's contract. :D[/quote]
JACKPOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Why? I think it's obvious. Reggie Bush has never played safety in his life. |

Why cant we just give the guy some time. He was drafted on April 29. Its now May 9. 10 days? TEN DAY?!?!?!
Would you be satisfied signing a multi million dollar contract in 10 days? Keep in mind, that in those 10 days the contract isnt your only concern. He has to do the right thing, do those interviews, do those talk shows. If he doesnt, or turns them down he immediately is deemed selfish by the media and gets a bad rap. I think he is doing everything the right way. Give it time before we start calling him a phony. Also, dont make the kid the "savior". He has the pressure of the city of New Orleans, the entire Saints fan base and pretty much an entire country of nay-sayers on his back. The least we can do is give him 100% support. |
I think Lienart dropped cause he has a noodle arm.

Bush isn't going to sign a contract before July. In fact he isn't going to sign a contract before training camp starts. Bush isn't going to be the savior of this team either, at least not on the football field. Let's remember that we've had superstar running backs on this team including a Heisman winner for a while now. While both Ricky and Deuce have been outstanding players for the Saints, neither have lifted the team anywhere near the fans' expectations. Even if Bush has a year where he matches both Deuce's and Michael Lewis' best years, in football terms it won't add up to getting deep in the playoffs. That's what happens in the Ultimate Team Game. However, we do need Bush to continue to be the face of the franchise. In non football terms it means doing exactly what he's doing: interviews and pitching product. The Saints need Bush to be the irresistable marketing force. Now in football terms we really do need Bush to continue what he has done in the past. If Bush can contribute just one jaw dropping SportsCenter highlight every game or so, then he'll pay off. Be that a kick return, swing pass for a long run, or some ankle breaker, that's what he needs to be this year. The other aspect is to make the defense account for him. That's why the jaw dropping plays are so important. Think of how productive Deuce will be with Karney in front of him and only 7 in the box because Bush motions out to the slot? Or what will happen when that safety tries to cheat inside and Bush runs right by him? I don't think brother man will have a prodctuve season numerically. But his talent will open up the offense even if he doesn't personally benefit from it statistically. So that's why I'm not worried about the contract. Bush isn't going to need a full camp to learn to run a couple of plays in the slot, return kicks, run a reverse (or a fake reverse) with Deuce, and motion to catch the ball in the flat. So let him and his agent work out the best deal they can. It'll take them awhile for them to understand that Bush isn't going to get #1 money. Now on to the rest of the team, you know the part that really matters?! The Saints have gotten much better with addition by subtraction. They need a KISS philosphy this year: namely:
That's it. With that foundation we have the skill people to make the plays necessary to win. SFIAH |

Looks like a semantics war here. Bashing? Being Critical?
Great post ATL. |
The difference between being critical and bashing is semantics? Wow. Bush does have everyone a little soft.
|
If Bush doesn't sign by the end of today trade him for Tesucky Jones.
We need him back. |
A safety joke? Are you being critical of the coach and front office's decision to bring in a hundred safeties? Why, you're bashing Sean Payton. How dare you.
|
We as fans do not need to make reggie the savior of this team, or the city. All he needs to do is play football and whatever he does off the field is out of the goodness of his heart. We do not need to make him the face of the organization because we already have a face. To me Drew Brees became the face of this organization the day he signed the contract Reggie will be great for this team but we can win without him. Without Drew we are in trouble.
