The Saints have been pleased so far with the attitude veteran DT Hollis Thomas has brought to the locker room. They were targeting a veteran from a winning program who could bring leadership to the defense, and they got that from Thomas, who spent 10 years with the Philadelphia Eagles. Earlier in his career, Thomas (6-0, 306) was one of the league's premier run stuffers. But a variety of injuries slowed him from and he is now primarily a situational player on rushing downs. Thomas was fully healthy last year and should have some good football left in him. He'll battle underachieving young T Jonathan Sullivan for a place in the rotation along with veteran starters Brian Young and Willie Whitehead. first I have heard about him here |

RE: SN Team Report
It's becoming more and more popular (with coaches not players) to rotate in Defensive Line players to keep them fresh. It's a smart way to play good D late in the game and Thomas is used to it from Philly where it happens nearly every down. He'll be good for many reasons. He's a team player, he understands his role. He'll show leadership, he came from a winning organization and will show some of that additude to the others. He's still got some juice in him. And best of all is he knows the Eagles system so he'll be able to help the coaches prep for that game.
