Why would anyone start a league and have a draft before mini-camps and pre-season?

Hmm, couple of thought:

Good job on changing the draft date. Much gooder.

I have always found 12 teams to be too many. 8 or 10 is much better as it leaves a couple of people in FA, and also allows for all teams to generally have a solid core of players to keep it competitive.

When I run a league, I get rid of that waiver business, or cut it down to one day. First come first serve is my motto. You see him first, you get him.

Also not a big fan of overdoing stats. Like the plus one for completions and the minus one for incompletes? That's about the only one i'd have different. Also the minus two for a sack. That hurts teams with immobile QBs who would otherwise have good #s. Like I said, there are just suggestions, and it's your league so run it however you like. I am just glad you changed that draft date. You never know who will get hurt in camp or in the pre-season.

Thanks for the input, whodi. I just changed the qb scoring, but it is staying at 12 teams. I want as many B&G users to join as I can get.

Is this gonna be the "Official" B&G league or will there be another later?

The league is "unofficial" for now. Usually the mods are the ones that start the leagues.

I just wanted to get the ball rolling early because, well, I'm impatient. :lol:

With 12 teams and all these starters free agency will be non existant for WR and RBs. People will hoard 3rd string running backs in case 2 people get injured in front of them because they have no better options. With 8 bench spots you can run no backups on Def and K and horde all the potential sleepers in depleted positions like WR and RB. To smoothly run a roster format like that you need less coaches.

But, that is something you learn as you go. I suggest trying a few custom leagues with different formats, and make a few of your own too trying different formats. I still experiment with new league formats every year, but I still tend to prefer a more standard format, with a few mods to bring up points from stats unused in standard leagues.

You probably shouldnt expect stellar results from everything this year, but Fantasy Football is about improvement through exploration and research, which comes with the seasons. And there is always a shot for a team to excell or a format to engage it's players. Welcome to Fantasy Football.

Exactly what I was saying. I find a 12 team league to be a bit much as it is, but a 12 team league with 12 starting positions and 8 bench positions? The live draft itself will be about 2-3 hours long at a minimum to fill out the rosters. But, to each his own. It's a learning experience.

Ok, now i understand why I shouldn't have more than ten teams. I just cut the number of teams to 10.

You need a free Yahoo account to join. After creating one, go to the sports section, then to the NFL section. There is a sign up button on the NFL page. The league is free, so don't sign up for Plus because it is a premium package. Be sure to click to join a custom league. Use the ID# I provided to find it.

When this league fills up, I'm going to start another one. So no one worry about spots filling up.
