Donte

While whoodi and I have bang heads lately on him. One thing came to my attention. I have read this is a contract year and he will do so much in this year. But it not a contract year. This is for all of you as well as me who thought it was.

Player Info Draft Info
WR (#) Year: 2002
New Orleans Saints Round: 1
Sacramento, CA Position: 13

Salary History

2002 325000.00
2003 305000.00
2004 435000.00
2005 1115000.00
2006 1920000.00
2007 545000.00

So the cap money of 1.92 million is a big reason I can see why teams did not bit on the trade offers. Now next year at 545,000 i see teams beating down the doors. I missed this point all together. At 545,000 he is a keeper by all means.

RE: Donte

tommy polley got a 1 year deal at 2006 585000.00

I think the 2007 season of Donte's contract is a voidable year, that's why people keep saying it's a contract year. It was the same way in Sully's contract. I think the last two years of his are voidable, unless NE does a new deal. I also think it's voidable at Donte's option, that's how they got him signed for 6 years.

JimBone 06-08-2006 12:46 PM

This is his contract year, as you all pointed out, next season is voidable...and 1.9 million dollars for a WR is not a bad deal...plus, anyone who would trade for him would probably try to extend his deal instead of running the risk of keeping him for only one year.

Who is "you all?" I was the only one who pointed it out.

sorry...job well done on pointing that out whodi...your attention to detail does not go unnoticed...especially in the matters of Mr. Stallworth and Mr. Grant.

Please continue the good work.

Stallworth was a top 15 receiver last year even though he played mostly at #2 in an offense that sucked. He's cheap by comparison to the other receivers on that list. I can't for the life of me fathom why the new administration is disenchanted with him.

Just keep your facts straight buddy. Death stick is available for all comers.

JimBone 06-08-2006 05:10 PM

thats a deal.

AllSaints 06-08-2006 06:55 PM

top 15 isnt saying much ....... he would have not been there if horn was healthy............ But HEY I LIKE STALLWORTH !!!! Its just time for him to step up we saw a lil something out of him last year when horn wnet down hopfully he will come back strong and have a great season....

JimBone 06-08-2006 09:06 PM

Donte just needs to get his head out of his crack and do what he has to do. You would think that would be extra motivation since he is playing for his next contract but it seems to me like he still hasnt grown up...the only thing holding him back is himself.

GoldRush26 06-09-2006 12:00 AM

Donte being here wouldn't be a bad thing at all. I just don't think he's worth keeping at all costs because we could get a better WR in here in place of him and wouldn't miss a beat. And he needs to fix this new "diva" attitude of his and quick. I would think he would learn from Sully.

JimBone 06-09-2006 01:32 AM

I have always been a big fan of his, but this attitude thing is killing me...i hate that!

TallySaint 06-09-2006 08:11 AM

From PFW....

"Stallworth will be more coveted now that Javon Walker's contract situation is settled. Walker, drafted seven spots behind Stallworth in 2002, would have been part of the upcoming free-agent crop but signed a six-year deal after a Draft Day trade sent Walker from Green Bay to Denver. Stallworth is being given the chance to be the Saints' lead receiver for the first time in his career. The incentive for a big season has never been greater".

Go Donte!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

jdiggy 06-09-2006 10:06 AM

Stallworth is done. Trade him for an O-Linemen... We have tons of marginal receivers.

Let's turn out the King, and get some offensive line depth.

kojakhinton 06-09-2006 10:11 AM

yeah, why are we talking about him exploding, because its a contract year, please he should have been doing this all along if he has the skills we thought he had when we drafted him
