While whoodi and I have bang heads lately on him. One thing came to my attention. I have read this is a contract year and he will do so much in this year. But it not a contract year. This is for all of you as well as me who thought it was.
Player Info Draft Info WR (#) Year: 2002 New Orleans Saints Round: 1 Sacramento, CA Position: 13 Salary History 2002 325000.00 2003 305000.00 2004 435000.00 2005 1115000.00 2006 1920000.00 2007 545000.00 http://www.nflpa.org/Media/playerProfile.asp?ID=32989 So the cap money of 1.92 million is a big reason I can see why teams did not bit on the trade offers. Now next year at 545,000 i see teams beating down the doors. I missed this point all together. At 545,000 he is a keeper by all means. |

I think the 2007 season of Donte's contract is a voidable year, that's why people keep saying it's a contract year. It was the same way in Sully's contract. I think the last two years of his are voidable, unless NE does a new deal. I also think it's voidable at Donte's option, that's how they got him signed for 6 years.

This is his contract year, as you all pointed out, next season is voidable...and 1.9 million dollars for a WR is not a bad deal...plus, anyone who would trade for him would probably try to extend his deal instead of running the risk of keeping him for only one year.

sorry...job well done on pointing that out whodi...your attention to detail does not go unnoticed...especially in the matters of Mr. Stallworth and Mr. Grant.
Please continue the good work. |

Stallworth was a top 15 receiver last year even though he played mostly at #2 in an offense that sucked. He's cheap by comparison to the other receivers on that list. I can't for the life of me fathom why the new administration is disenchanted with him.
