Donnie Edwards, Bennie Anderson and others have been brought up as possible additions.
Some of us "delusional" posters consider Donte the best trade bait we got. I still do despite the wet noodle beating. It is the deepest talent area on the team. Others are looking at Bennett. Which would be a mistake if Duce goes down again. The OL is a Big ? mark. Would be nice to have an OT that can play G instead of a G the can play OT on the roster. CB, LB and DT has been brought up. We might as well look at the deck of cards we have to play with. What jumps out to me is OT. But if you bring in additional FA players who would you cut? If you keep donte and bennett who else could you package in a trade to fill areas of need on the team? what players are good trade bait instead of those two? Here is your up dated list of playing cards. How would you guys and gals play them? Me I do not see alot here. Craft is my #1 veteran option on the team. Not because of his play but bescause there are Safeties that can play his position. I see 4 safeties and 3 S/CB on the team right now. so bring in say OT Anderson, is he the one to cut among the veterans? As for the rookies i got alot of info on the picks but very little on the UFA we picked up. some teams are now cutting some of the UFA. Can we upgrade our crop of UDFA? How are Phillips,Ware, Mason, Villarreal , Davis and the rest looking? This is why I put out the list besides do I have every one in the right place? Or am I missing something here. |

That is what I wonder but Bush will be playing so many postions and will on and off the field like a jack rabit I left it alone. If Duce goes down I see Bennett and stecker filling in. Why limit bush's flexiability.

How is WR the deepest position? We only have 2 good WRs. If Donte's gone, all we have is Joe Horn. Nobody else on that roster has proven anything in the NFL.
Also, where did you get this depth chart from? Can anybody confirm that Polley is 1st string MLB? |

There is now way to know duce. payton is just moving everyone around so much who really knows. he does not so i just went with it. Polley seems to be the best choice on the roster
But as for Donte it is more of a trade value thing. Same with Bennett. I want both to stay but if you were to trade, what players are there. Hey only going with the chatter that is out there. Here is a question for you. Which would hurt the saints more? Duce going down or Donte? Where is the depth at that position better to absorb the loss? My answer is WR. If duce goes down and bennett is traded that would force Bush to be more of a true RB and limit his flexibility on the field. We do not have an inbetween the OTs back to replace him. It is not Stecker. Would you really risk Bush to 20 or 25 runs a game in his first year? |

Do you really want to see Donte drop any more balls for the Black & Gold?
Trade him, and watch as he tells his new team about how, "His time has come." And, how he's going to REALIZE his POTENTIAL this season. This would not even be an issue if he would just catch the football consistently. You know? |

Let's look at the RB position. Right now Bennett is a third stringer, as opposed to Donte who's a second stringer. If we traded Bennett, we'd have Deuce, Reggie, and Stecker still available. You have every right to worry about whether or not Deuce will be able to stay healthy. However, even assuming that he does go down at some point, you'd still have two very capable players. Hell, Reggie Bush might turn into the best player in the league, so that's a pretty good backup plan. Then there's Stecker who averaged 4.0 yards a carry filling in for Deuce last season. You trade Bennett, you have three guys who can get it done, including two guys with Pro Bowl potential. You get rid of Donte, you have one old, aging player in Joe Horn who still can be a Pro Bowl guy, but after that, there's a HUGE dropoff. We need to trade Bennett and keep Donte. |

Trade them BOTH! We have other areas of need.
