Saints | Team second in salary cap space
Wed, 28 Jun 2006 18:37:33 -0700 Vito Stellino, of the Florida Times-Union, reports the New Orleans Saints are currently second in salary cap space at $13.7 million under the cap. http://www.kffl.com/hotw/nfl Now lets see what we do with these numbers. watch the cut list till the 2007 season kick off. Trades are wide open to us. Bring on the big contracts. Next year looks good to with all the one year deals we signed. If Polley, Simmons and a few others work out we will have the cash to keep them next year. Looking good guys. |

I know Donte hasn't been a Payton favorite but it seems he could be signed to a shorter term extension for roster management if nothing else. After poor numbers last year Charles Grant could be extended for not back breaking cost I would guess too. What about a high dollar/short term/incentive laden contract for Ty Law?

we already know what the cap is for rookies and bush will have to fit. end of story. so now we look for backups from the cut lists or is all the work done after the draft? Some will have be saved for the new contracts but there is always room for improvement.

LKelley, I like the idea of signing Charles Grant long term. He's a beast and an emotional juggernaut, we need to lock him up now when I think we could probably get a bit of a discount.
