Has Reggie Bush been given an official nickname?

I've heard what Joe Horn call him, Baby Matrix, which I don't like. I have subimitted the name Le Flambeau to interested parties but have not recieved a response as of yet. Any other ideas?

Why does my avatar not show? Help

I don't like Baby Matrix either. I don't think he even needs a nickname. I rather the "Reggie" chant everytime he touches the ball.

As far as your avatar is concerned, can't help you there buddy. I've been trying to change mines and I can't seem to do it myself.

Tobias, are you from New Orleans? Flambeau is a torch, which is from the French language. Flambeau carriers are still used today for night parades. If Reggie Bush is not the torch (Le Flambeau)of New Orleans, I don't know who is, sportswise that is.

turbo_dog 07-11-2006 10:27 PM

Reggie "the burning" Bush.

shonboy 07-11-2006 10:41 PM

i got it, hows about " HE CANT TACKLE ME"

smyce 07-11-2006 10:56 PM

I liked "Category 5" but his appeal for the #5 got shot down.

Now I dont know.

Way to go Turbo, I submitted The Burning Bush to Reebox months ago and got shot down. Then Bush signs with Adidas. When my ship comes in, I'm at the airport. But I do like the Burning Bush. I even sent a commercial script to go along with is.

jrmllb 07-12-2006 06:49 AM

I'm not so thrilled with the "Burning Bush"...I like "Saint Reggie"...."Baby Matrix" isn't my favorite but its alright...I friend of mine here suggested "COD" for Cash on Delivery or Change of Direction or Cutback on Demand...Kinda like it but thats still not it

mjf150 07-12-2006 08:22 AM

According to the Wikipedia article about him, his main nickname is "The President", but he has also been given the nicknames "Saint Reggie" and another one, which borders on blasphemy.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reggie_Bush

procto 07-12-2006 09:33 AM

guys, NO WORRIES!! C Berman will have him nicknamed by the first showing of NFL COUNTDOWN. Nothing you guys think of will match whatever he will come up with

mjf150 07-12-2006 10:00 AM

My guess is that Berman will probably come up with something along the lines of Reggie "Dub-ya" Bush. Or maybe he will simply fall back on Reggie "The President" Bush. Perhaps, Reggie "one in the hand, two in the" Bush, or Reggie Bush-"wacker". Another possibility is "Bush No. 25". Anyone else have any "Bermanisms"?

AllSaints 07-12-2006 10:17 AM

He probly wont hav ea nickname...................... or nuthing REggie Bush ........ but yeah berman will come up with something...... didnt he come up with the HE HATE ME .......

mjf150 07-12-2006 10:38 AM

I really think that he will use Reggie "one in the hand, worth more than two in the" Bush. Does any else have a guess as to what nickname Chris Berman will use?

turbo_dog 07-12-2006 12:26 PM

How about Bush's Baked Teams, for anybody we just defeated.

neugey 07-12-2006 12:46 PM

Too bad he couldn't get to wear #5 - I could hear Berman saying "Number 5 is alive!". (quote from the Short Circuit move)

pakowitz 07-12-2006 01:38 PM

no that was Johnny 5 is alive

Iron-Head 07-12-2006 01:58 PM

we better come up with something quick... befor BABY MATRIX sticks

Blasphemy Indeed... I love blasphemy...

I always thought the Saints problem was the name, we shoudl be the Sinners, not the Saints... With Reggie Bush as our Dark Messiah! Yes, it all fits, we pick him up in the Devil's year (06) that contained Devil Day (06/06/06), right after God rained down armageddeon on us. But as a prize for slogging forward, having Mardi Gras even after Katrina, and all the looting everyone did, Satan has rewarded us with the Dark Messiah, Reggie Bush.

Thanks MJF, for helping to point out the dark blessings of the Evil Overlord of Football.

You are so correct Iron-head. I want a name that not only identify Reggie but some New Orleans culture as well. Flambeau is New Orleans culture, baby matrix is Hornywood. That don't sound right but Joe Horn.

I'm finding that since Katrina folk, have been getting a lil bit of education about New Orleans. However, they make the mistake of testing me with their new TV knowledge. So I kick their question up a notch, just to see how much they really know. "They didn't mention that" is usually their response. Checkmate, go to the back of the line buddy.

No, it wasnt. He got the name "Johnny" later, after the "Number Five is Alive" quote. Your 80's movie trivia god has spoken.

Hornywood would be a good name for Ron Jeremy's new adult theme park... Donk ask what the roller coaster looks like.

Iron-Head 07-12-2006 03:01 PM

i think REGGIE is all we need. When he is finishing his first 80 yard sprint to the endzone in the dome on sep. 25 , I can't see us in the stands chanting BABY MATRIX! BABY MATRIX!!

Saintuary 07-12-2006 03:23 PM

I know I should be ashame but Reggie chant seems to belong to Reggie White.

Iron-Head 07-12-2006 04:01 PM

with all respect, in 20 years when we darft some dude name deuce smith, we're not gonna stop sayinn deuuuuuuuce when he makes a play. time goes on

So true. Just checked the burning bush has already been assigned to our former manager of the Univ. of New Orleans baseball team Randy Burning Bush 2000-2003,,by Mr. Berman.

Oh, I know what it is, you know what it is, most people who post here know what it is, but imagine ESPN, or Rome, or Packman et al, getting a hold of that nickname.

I should've explained it in the original post. My bad.

...

saintbuck 07-13-2006 04:44 PM

What about "The Hurricane" or something to that nature.

The University of Miami.

In that case, "The Trojan Horse"

LivnaLieTimay 07-13-2006 06:44 PM

Saintuary, the REG-GIE chant started during game 6 of the the 1977 world series at Yankee Stadium. Reggie Jackson had homered twice and when he came up following his 2nd homer, the whole crowd was chanting REG-GIE, REG-GIE, REG-GIE. Jackson proceeded to jack one to dead center into the black seats for his 3rd homer of the game. Sorry, as a lifelong Yankees fan I couldn't let that go, but since then its been duplicated by green bay and I think that should be Bush's chant. It is one of the greatest chants I've heard. Another nickname could be "Reggie Franchise". Steve Francis no longer deserves the nickname and I think it'd be good for Reggie.

saintsfan1313 07-13-2006 06:55 PM

how bout we call him Reggie "Lets wait til we actually sign him and see how good he is in the pros before we make him the best player in Saints history" Bush......hehe.......or we could just call him "DAAAAAAMMMMMNNNNNN"

1313, I submitted Le Flambeau and the Burning Bush to a couple of companies along with commercial scripts that highlighted Reggie Bush and the City Of New Orleans. At the momement, I've been shot down, not because creativity but greed.

The nickname Flash stuck with D. Wade, I can't see why Flambeau can't stick to Reggie. It certainly has more culture than Flash. Louisiana Flambeau, Flambeau Field, we got the goods right here in the Big. By the way, I also drew up a pair of tennis shoes called Flambeaux.

Yep.

Unless something more catchy comes along, the chants you're gonna hear in the dome is gonna be "REG-GIE, REG-GIE". Not original, but Bush will be in good company and hopefully worthy....

On a side note - Years ago, golfer Jack Nichlaus's son played wide out here at Florida State. He didn't play much. But every time he took the field and made a catch, we chanted "Arnie! Arnie!".

You just never know what nickname will take hold. :D

How about those immortal words spouted by Booger in Revenge of the Nerds?

"We've got Bush!"

Saintuary 07-16-2006 12:53 PM

Okay, can we come to an agreement on what we have so far? I know I submitted Le Flambeau, What I was looking for was something with a Louisiana or New Orleans culture, folklore or elegance. Swamp Fox is a good one, has any Saint player had that name?
