Thoughts on trading rb M Bennett & obtaining lb D Edward
I'm not so sure we should trade Bennett considering Reggie Bush isn't signed yet & we haven't confirned Deuce is close to 100% - yet. Bennett struggled in Minnesota the past two years & I think a change of venue would suit him well, whether here or elsewhere.
As for Donnie Edwards, I feel he would be a good addition to the lb corps, even if it's only for a couple of years. Would definitely help with our younger guys like Fincher & Bockwoldt. I am glad the trade speculation surrounding Dwight Smith & Donte' Stallworth has quieted as I really feel both may be important to the success of the team this season. Yeah, Stallworth may leave as a FA after this season - it's a risk we may have to take. However, it's time for him to prove his lofty draft status now & not later. You can't teach flat-out speed but you CAN teach a wr to become a better receiver. I still feel we're a little shaky at CB & DT but, hopefully by improving our Lb situation the rest of the D might hold it's own. I still wouldn't be surprised to hear that the club traded a wr in the mix in order to acquire Donnie Edwards - just not sure which one they might consider trading ... Just a few thoughts ... |
I\'m not crazy - I\'m just \"maladjusted\" ...

We stay the course until Deuce is healthy, if that ever happens. If not, he's our starter and I'm very happy with that.

Donnie wants a contract extension which will cause us problems when we need to re-sign our own. Grant, Stallworth, and Smith will soon need extensions. Though it would be nice to have Edwards, it's a luxury I don't think we desparately need. If we spend some money, we need to go after a corner or tackle... offensive or defensive.

Seems Peyton and staff have addressed needs and I suspect they aren't in a big rush to trade either Donte or Bennett. Circumstances say they are both of value to our offense.
I think Donte stays. We're not shopping Bennett, but if someone (Texans or another) offers us something we can't refuse, he's gone. 8) |
