Can someone confirm that this is in fact the first Saint on the cover of SI?

No, it's not. Bobby Hebert was on the cover. I don't remember the year, but I think it was when we started out something like 8-0, and the caption was "Bayou Boys", unless I'm mistaken.

I think we also lost the next game, and the season went to crap.

I believe it was 1991, was it not? and I think it was 6-0, and yeah, the season went to crap. :P

and for those with the short memory, or smoke too much reefer....or both, we made the SI cover last year after the open week victory against the panthers. ab hugging carney.....
