Negotiations between Saints, Bush agent to heat up
Negotiations between Saints, Bush agent to heat upBy Len Pasquarelli
ESPN.com Hard bargaining on a deal for Reggie Bush will begin on Thursday, ESPN.com has learned, as New Orleans Saints officials and agent Joel Segal are scheduled to engage in what almost certainly will be the most substantive negotiations yet on a contract for the second overall choice in the draft. The negotiating session, expected to be conducted by phone, comes on the day when Saints players are to report to training camp at Millsaps College near Jackson, Miss. The initial practice under first-year coach Sean Payton is on Friday, and it will take a monumental breakthrough in the Thursday bargaining to get the 2005 Heisman Trophy winner onto the field for that workout. To this point, the two sides have discussed framework and concepts and perhaps even floated some dollar figures, but it is believed the Saints have yet to make a formal offer to the former Southern California star. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2530925 |

RE: Negotiations between Saints, Bush agent to heat up
well, the saints won't be the only one to put the pressure on bush.... adidas is paying him top dollar to wear their product on the field PLAYING FOOTBALL... if he were to hold out, not only would he not be making any nfl dollars, his endorsements may run dry as well... aside from that, his agent would be blackballed by next generation players that will be drafted next year, and after the nflpa has just suspended carl poston for his retarded ways, he may end up like poston.... in my opinion, the saints still have the upper hand in this situation, but bush does have a considerable amount of leverage, considering how talented he is and the fact that even if he were to spurn the afore mentioned topics and re-enter the draft in 2007, he'd still go in the top 3, if not 1st overall again... we'll see, but like i said in another post, this time next year mr. bush will officially be a new orleans saint
