Young deal may pass overall No. 1 picks!!
Young may cost Titans
QB's deal may pass overall No. 1 pick's By JIM WYATT Staff Writer The dominos continued to fall Wednesday on completed rookie contracts for the Titans, and now only the two big ones remain  quarterback Vince Young and running back LenDale White. The Titans begin training camp Friday in Clarksville. Titans General Manager Floyd Reese met again Wednesday with agent Major Adams, who represents Young, and the two sides were nearing agreement on what could be one of the biggest contracts for a rookie in NFL history. Reese and Adams are scheduled to meet again today. http://www.tennessean.com/apps/pbcs....24/1328/SPORTS Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrreat. This will definitely throw a wrench in Reggie negotiations. Egos are about to take over gentlemen. |

RE: Young deal may pass overall No. 1 picks!!
If that happens and Reggie's tops that or is at least more than Williams' then the entire slotting system that has become part of the NFL Draft will be down the tubes....

Well, generally speaking fellas, QBs tend to get a higher salary than any other position no matter where they are drafted, and lower round QBs tend to have escelators in their contracts that kick in if they become starters or pass certain numbers or such. It's always been that way. So I could see Vince commanding one of those contracts that has an "up to" clause in it. Like if he plays so much it's value will go up to 60 or 70 mil or so. I don't think that would be a big issue for the Saints and negotiating with Reggie. I think everyone understands QBs just get more. Look at Alez Smith last year. Didn't het get the biggest rookie contract ever or something? And right behind him, at #2, Brown got like 20 mil less overall. Smith's contract set the stage for Mario's to be so high. So, we'll see how this plays out, and if Reggie gets signed before Vince does. But if vince gets a larger contract than both, I would not be at all surprised.
