I was surprised to hear it, but if he was going to be hurt anyway, I am glad he is not one theis team. I hope he gets well soon.

Too bad about LeCharles. Hopefully he'll be able to make it back next year at 100%. Have a hard time feeling sorry for the Browns, though, since they are the first team on our schedule this year.

TheDeuce 07-28-2006 12:06 PM

I would never wish injury on a player, and I'm not even happy that LeCharles got injured. I wouldn't call it that. Perhaps what I should call it is a good sign. Maybe? We decide not to pay record money for a center and instead trade down a few spots in a later round to the Browns for their starting center; and then the guy who they signed from our team gets injured for the entire season. Jeff Faine is looking pretty good right now, and I'm glad we didn't screw our cap situation by doling out the big bucks to a guy who's going to be gone for the whole year. I wish him the best, but honestly, when was the last time karma/payback/redemption/whatever you want to call it, this good happened to the Saints? I can see Jeff Faine right now quoting that line from Jerry Maguire, "You're loving me now aren't you?"

saintswhodi 07-28-2006 12:20 PM

I'm holding my breath cause Jeff Faine ain't exactly known as Mr. Durability, or Mr. Tough guy. And no one can say if this would have happened to Bentley here. He would not have even been in camp yet if he was still on our team. So we don't know. But I agree with the Deuce in that this does seem like karma somehow. He didn't wanna behere to help the team and city rebuild, and now he's out for the season. San D. didn't wanna pay Brees cause of an injury, and the Dolphins said he failed a physical, now Drew is here. The best player in the draft, and best player to come out in a while, fell into our laps. AND I read on another forum that the dome may be sold out in season tickets. That's CRAZY!! So after the tragedy that was lat year, all around, and seeing as how it couldn't possibly have gotten worse, maybe the karma pendelum is swinging back around in our favor.

After Ricky hit the 1,800yds marker that triggered the second 1st rd pick in the trade deal, then retired before the next season.
