What about HAAS

Unfortunately we get stuck with the Cowgirls up here in Dallas. How did Haas do? Also was wanting to know what the O-line looked like. :handguns:

RE: What about HAAS

Hass looked great! Caught one in traffic. If he doesn't make the team, I will be surprised. Lyman, Colston, & Jones all looked great as well. 1st team OL looked weak, but the young guys were dominant. Zach Strief was a beast opening holes for Branch.

cajuntexcop 08-14-2006 11:56 AM

Thanks Gandhi....

gandhi1007 08-14-2006 11:58 AM

No problem. Those were just my observations from watching the game twice. Some people may disagree.

RDOX 08-14-2006 01:03 PM

I thought Hass looked great. As his first game went, he far outpaced Henderson. It is obvious that he doesn't have blazing speed, but God can he catch. He's also tough in the middle. He was likened to Fred Bilitnikoff (sp) in his toughness and ability to make a catch in traffic. He seems to have Football sense. I'd say that Donte, Devery, and Michael Lewis are in trouble after seeing Hass, Colston, Jamal Brown, and Chase Lyman (knees and all). I'd sure take Hass over Stallworth and Coslton over Henderson. Henderson has hands made out of rock and his head seems made out of stainless steel. One thing that I didn't see was production from the tight ends, especially Hilton. I have liked him a lot and I hope that he stays here. Jamie Martin is no slouch either. He is very accurate and smooth in the pocket. Bouman looked good also. All of this proves that coaching and attitude can change performance. One penalty on the Defensive tackle was because he had been signed on Thursday and was playing Saturday. That I could excuse. Overall, this team looked 1000% more professional than a team QB's by Fumbles the Clown and coached by Hasbeen and Ventilated.

Sadly, Stecker is gonna be replaced by Branch. This guy is a beast. He has a high motor and runs with ower and precision. We need to keep him. Also, it's not hard to see why Bennett was trated after watching Branch.

Yeah, Hass looked Great! He can catch like a freak, he may not be all that fast but he is very quick to stick to the ball

thib82 08-14-2006 02:06 PM

I agree, he catches the ball very well. I hope he makes the team.

hagan714 08-14-2006 05:20 PM

What I liked in his play was hustle. he was always trying to get into the play. On an interception I like the way he kept adjusting his angle in chasing down the CB. he did not get the tackle but he was lined up for the next shot if the others missed. Funny watching all the room the CB were giving him most of the time. I guess they thought, they could jump the route. Dallas should jam him more after watching him play Tenn. If you are a second late and he gets a finger on the ball he catches it. So I hope to see how he handles the jam next time. not bad at all for game one.

I don't put much stock in training camp reports but he was as good as advertised in this game.
All of the above posts are correct. This guy wants to and can play!

He was the Belittnikoff Award Winner last year. He must have earned it somehow.

For the record:

Is it Haas or Hass? How is it pronounced?

I have friends that are about to get in a fight over this.

hagan714 08-15-2006 06:17 AM

let'em fight. whats a little fight among friends over stupid things.
hass and it is pronounced like bass. but he will probly have to get use to the cajun version of haas.

LKelley67 08-15-2006 08:58 AM

Some have mentioned Steve Largent. But ya know who this guy reminds me of? Danny Abramowicz! Yes, my comparison is from personal memory too. A 17th Rd draft pick!

Doesn't this blurb sound like the H man?...

In 1967, one of the most "famous" of the last round picks -- Dan Abramowicz -- was chosen on the 17th round by New Orleans. One scout said Dan had "glacial speed". But he also had superb hands and fierce determination.

"Danny made it on something that's hard to measure: competitive spirit", said Jim Finks.

Although chosen 420th, the flanker from Xavier proved he belonged in the NFL by catching a league-high 73 passes in 1969 and breaking Lance Alworth's record for catches in consecutive games.

With all this youth comin around....I'm sensing a Jimmy Johnson type of revival here with all the young guys we have acquired. I get the feeling that in a couple of seasons if our nucleus stays together and grows.....we should become a deadly force in the league. Anyone else seeing what I am seeing? As far as Haas.....he is a white version of Eric Martin....not too fast....hands of glue!!

cajuntexcop 08-15-2006 12:47 PM

there once was a player named Hass
you pronounced his name like bass
he aint all that fast, he'll move Devery to last
and he never ever drops a pass

author known, but embarrased

RockyMountainSaint 08-15-2006 05:12 PM

That was terrible!

hagan714 08-15-2006 06:38 PM

ex cops and poetry do not mix well. or is it just a cajun thing

cajuntexcop 08-15-2006 10:54 PM

well..i still am a cop, it can't be the cajun thing.i'll blame it on the heat here in texas..hahahahhah

Jerry_Mathers 08-15-2006 11:24 PM

Mike Hass should continue to amaze people in the future. I am an Oregon State fan, and Hass was arguably the best reciever to play there. And the Best part about it is that he was a WALK-ON. The Kid has Heart, and i am looking forward to watching him play.

RockyMountainSaint 08-15-2006 11:46 PM

 I hear ya, I worked in texas and never recovered from the sun stroke. Hope

BJSim 08-16-2006 08:43 AM

Hass reminds me of Chrebet or Proell. Slow but with great hands. A guy you can throw to on third down and KNOW it's a first.

D_it_up 08-17-2006 03:27 PM

I'm loving the fact that everyone NOW has a love affair with Mike Hass....Anyone who read my posts post-draft knew how much I thought of the guy...He's a guy with all the intangibles you want...He doesn't need to be fast if he can run routes, play smart, and catch the freakin ball....That's all this guy does....There's no doubt in my mind he'll make the team....

jrmllb 08-17-2006 03:34 PM

I think someone like Hass is what they wanted when they drafted Lyman last year...I like Hass better...I hope that comment did not fracture Lyman's ego or femur...

Jerry_Mathers 08-18-2006 03:43 AM

well, all i can say is that i am glad that you are embracing mike hass, and i hope/am sure that he will have a great career with the saints

go saints

CHACHING 08-18-2006 07:50 AM

Thanx Beave.......
I love this kid Haas...all he does is catch the damn ball....

jdiggy 08-18-2006 10:17 AM

Have you all heard the Mike Hass song?

A radio station up there made a song about him. I found it linked on this page.

http://greatcigars.homestead.com/beaverfootball.html

Scroll down a bit, it's toward the bottom. There's also pics of a Beavers fan's Porto-Potty clearly intended to degrade their rival Ducks.

New renovations in the Dome should include a Falcons logo at the bottom of every urinal.

FatiusJeebs 08-18-2006 11:12 AM

Great idea diggy!

Hey, don't forget to give love (well hate actually) to the other teams in the division.
