Stallworth to Dallas?
Hear me out... The Cowboys are woefully thin at WR. Owens just got back on the field, but there is little depth behind him.
Payton came from the Cowboys, and knows most of their players well. Could Monday night be an audition for some of the Dallas players? HEY! Where's La'Roi at now? I know this is my second day of speculating on a Stallworth trade, but, let it be known I'm not a hater. I actually like Stallworth, but he is one of the few players of market value that we have in a position of depth on the team. Hell, he may be the only one! Obviously, the O-Line and the Linebackers are a little scary, so why not try to upgrade them? Hagan wrote in another post ("Leave the extra 4th out of it"), that the Saints should just "bite the bullet," keep our draft picks, and play with the team we have. I agree that we should not split with our draft picks because it's the foundation on which a team is built. But I wouldn't mind splitting with Stallworth if it could help our running game or run defense. I don't see him staying with this team under this administration. He's not a Payton guy. Split with him before he leaves on his own next season. With that being said, who on the Dallas roster would you want to trade for? How about MLB Bradie James? I know... Wishful thinking. |

RE: Stallworth to Dallas?
Terry Glenn is a dynamic reciever who has been a silent-stud for Dallas! If it's an audition and he plays good, why would we unload a guy who almost had 1000 yards last year when we are even thinner at reciever? La Roi is with the rams.

RE: Stallworth to Dallas?
The La'Roi question was a joke... But good to know he's still playing in the league.
It would be an audition for players on both teams. We are not thin at receiver. We are unproven at receiver. There's a difference. Trading Stallworth would give our team the ability to keep Jamaal Jones, Mike Hass, Marques Colston, Devery Henderson and (possibly) Chris Horn on the roster. Jones looks as though he could be a solid #2, with either of the rookies, or C. Horn, filling the #3. I feel like all of them have more upside than Donte' from what I have seen and read. (except for Henderson) Yes, Stallworth caught for almost 1,000 yds last season, but he'll be gone after this next one, and we won't receive anything upon his departure. Let him be somebody else's gimpy thoroughbred, and trade for someone who can help the Saints NOW. |

RE: Stallworth to Dallas?
I read somewhere that LB Kevin Burnett is expendable from the cowboys.....stallworth is worth more than that, so maybe burnett and a pick. I remember Burnett coming out of Tenn. Hes young and wouldnt be a bad pickup. Him and a 5th rounder sounds good to me

Looks like we need OL help more than anything. Cowboys have as many questions there as we do. They won't give up an OL. We might entice a LB out of them, but if we are already so short on the O-Line, why go after a LB. I think our LB's can hold ground for us this year. Weannot afford to not have an O-line to protect Brees, and open holes for Deuce and Reggie. We may need to rethink where we are looking, if talking trading Stallsworth. I agree he is a good athlete, but he does not show it consistently. Trade him for some OL help, or Brees could be sidelined again.

I am just looking for a player that makes this team better. If it is a LB, DT, OL, CB...it doesnt matter. I just know we have to have that somebody wants and there are alot of teams out there with depth at those positions...i am all about making a move one way or another.

why would the 'boys trade for another problem wr? they have all-world terrell owens and a pretty good #2 in terry glenn... not to mention they are pretty high on skyler green... no shot on any trade for stallworth... burnett has gimpy knees (much like cie grant) anyways... it says a lot that the guy is in his 2nd year and is available for a trade by the team that drafted him... no thank you on that trade

That trade was voided after Adams failed the physical today. So the cowboys are definately back in the market.....
