Bush returning to familiar position
He appears to be No. 1 punt returner, but not in preseason Friday, August 18, 2006 By Jimmy Smith JACKSON, MISS. -- Each time the Saints' punt return unit lines up in practice, the first player up on the returning end is always tailback Reggie Bush. That's customarily a clear indication that the player who is first to field the kick could be considered the No. 1 return man. And while the rookie said Thursday he sees himself filling that role, it's unlikely Saints fans, and Monday night's national television audience, will get to see Bush returning punts against the Dallas Cowboys. "I don't know if it so much exposing me," Bush said. "But this is preseason. It's a chance for learning. I'm pretty sure they don't want to overwhelm me right now. Just kind of break me in slowly but surely. "I'm going to get a chance. I've already talked to Coach about it. I'll get a chance to return some punts. It's a process. We're taking it step by step. I'm pretty sure they just don't want to overwhelm me at this point. It will be up to him. And we'll see what happens." In three years at Southern California, Bush returned 44 punts and scored three touchdowns. His longest punt return last year was 84 yards. Bush also returned kickoffs at USC. He ranks second in Trojans' history in kickoff returns and fifth in punt returns. Bush is one of 12 players in NCAA history to record more than 2,000 all-purpose yards twice. During several practices in the past few days, Bush has dropped some catchable passes and audibly chastised himself for the mistakes. But he said he hasn't dwelled on the ones he has missed. "Every day is a new day," Bush said. "You try to find different reasons to come out here and improve yourself every day. That's what it's about. Dropping balls is part of practice. I'd rather drop them in practice than in the game. Story continues.... http://www.nola.com/sports/t-p/index...l=1&thispage=2 |

Aaron Brooks could learn a lot from a door mat.
No, let me correct that. Aaron Brooks could not learn a thing from anyone. |

I'm thinking this is probably the quickest a thread has turned to AB.

The only reason I brought up AB is because I had a dream the other night....more like a nightmare. Brooks was cut from the Raiders before training camp and Brees, Martin, and Bouman were all hurt. Loomis thinks quickly, but not logically, and signs Brooks to a multi-million dollar contract. I woke up with the shakes and in a cold sweat.

hopefully, bush will be able to keep the return man job and then we can part ways with michael lewis, who hasn't done much of anything other than collecting game checks for the past 2 years... we can then keep jones or colston with the added open roster spot created by giving lewis his walking papers...

^^^On KR, Jones has the nod on that job cause they don't want Bush getting hurt that way if he does^^^

whoever.... my point is we need to get rid of m. lewis.... he's old, he's always banged up, he's small.... and frankly, he's not productive anymore.... he had a good run of things, but he's on the downside of his short career....
