When no other team meets what the Chargers want, a 4th rounder will start looking good to them. With the extra pick and maybe one of our receivers (Henderson, Lewis, etc.) they may bite.

Get him here! More Chargers, baby! Wooo! (Atleast we're getting the quality Charger players, too.)

i think a 4rth rounder should suffice. he is old man. maybe we get 2 good years out of him. not worth giving up to much.

Word is he has a bad back... but it could just be he doesn't want to do those two a days.

RE: donnie edwards

doubt it. It only would hurt him and the team. He already got a vote of no confindence when SD did not extend his contract and extended two others. Back issues at his age only hurt the trade value. So maybe we sit and wait. A fifth tops in my book.

TRADE WINDS

Now that the Saints have signed former Chargers quarterback Drew Brees, they'd like to reunite him with his former San Diego teammate Donnie Edwards.

The Saints have approached the Chargers about trading for Edwards, only to find out that it would take a first-day draft pick to pry him away.

However, the Saints also have a surplus at a position the Chargers have a weakness. Earlier this week, the Chargers lost return man Darren Sproles to a season-ending broken left leg. The Saints have wide receiver/return men Michael Lewis and Bethel Johnson. The two teams should continue trade talks that already have commenced to see if it can satisfy the demands of each other. To date, the Saints haven't been able to do it.

But Edwards has told some close to him that he wouldn't mind being shipped out of San Diego, and to be hooked up again with Brees in a defense that could use his veteran presence, would be a nice option for him. But unless the Chargers show they are more willing to deal, no deal will happen.

In the interim, Edwards will continue nursing a back injury that has sidelined him the past three weeks, the Chargers will continue playing his replacement Matt Wilhem, and the Saints will wait to see if San Diego can be enticed by anything it has offered.
^^^Thats what happened dude^^^

I wouldn't mind taking the load off of the recievers by getting Edwards for Johnson...Seems to be cut out for us now that Sproles has hit the wall ...But why with a 4th rounder, the value they before was a 3rd rounder, why give up a player they need since their STemer is out, I'd say at most a 5th rounder...

But either way, as long as we grab him now...Then 2-3 yrs from now we'll go 4-12 and our 1st rounder will be a LB for yrs to come

And that'll lead ways for Fincher, he would immutate him and learn Edwards mistakes and grants and along with his nonstoppable drive, he'll be a hellova LB...Look what Smith does, from watching Grant and Howard

RE: Re: RE: Donnie Edwards

immutate? did you mean imitate? anyways, donnie edwards is not the answer.... our linebacking corps will be more than sufficient once or should i say if we get better defensive tackles that will absorb blocks from linemen and not allow them to get into the second tier or the linebackers.... i really like our linebacking corp, even after losing anthony simmons, although his presence would be greatly appreciated
