What is Donte Worth?
All the talk about Donte trade or not has gotten to the point of smelling like dead fish (that fish being Edwards)
What is he worth? 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 Condition: If a team is on the verge of taking the next step. Example Chicago, Philli, Dalles my vote is a 3 |
RE: What is Donte Worth?
Come to think about it, I would keep em and resign him...All these times I watch other teams play and how they have their two really good recivers, then I think of Stallworth leaving, which would be stupid because we would look like Lions' last yr offense or the Texans, why miss out on that chance???

RE: What is Donte Worth?
People!
Where's your faith in the WR's we just acquired. Jones has looked really solid. C. Horn, and the rookies too. Lest we forget Joe... Henderson is a good decoy, and he's due to catch a bomb or two between drops. Come on! Where's your huevos? Losing Stallworth is not going to make or break our season! Wouldn't you rather someone who can open a gaping hole for Deuce/Reggie, or STUFF Cadillac, Dunn, Foster/Williams for a loss? For those Donte' supporters, what has he contributed? He was ALMOST a 1,000 yd receiver that exceled enough to get his team to a 3-13 season. Is there really a difference between that and 2-14? Or 1-15? Getting a good OL or LB in exchange for Stallworth could make our week following a win all the more sweet! As opposed to the feeling you get in your stomach when they lose. |
RE: What is Donte Worth?
P.S.
I'm not trying to imply that last year's record rested on the shoulders of Donte'. There were many breakdowns last season, but HE was not a "difference maker." He was a no. 2 filling in for a no. 1. On this squad, with this coach, he will be a no. 3 at best. I get the feeling he will not crack the starting lineup. |
Stallworth is such a tease...i was so happy when we drafted him, and i have been that guy that gets on everyone's nerves year in and year right before the start of the season hollering about how good Donte is going to be and how this year is the year he excels...but i have finally come to realize that he just doesnt have the head for it...at least not here. I wish him the best and i would love to see him be great here, but i have come to understand that it just wont happen...move him while he has some value.
|
hey I was just wondering what value he has. not so much the opions themsalves. We have beaten the topic to death. I was looking for a number not more debate. put a value on his head.
|
The absolute most I could see the team getting for him is a 3rd
|
I was gonna say the same thing.....too much talent at WR in camp...
|
Is value in terms of draft picks...most likely a 3rd...but for a team in need, it could be a 2nd.
|
so everyone here is willing to throw donte, who has played pretty well against proven nfl talent, away for some people who look really good in camp? right..... not saying that i'm not a fan of hass, colston and jamal jones, but i would take any of the afore mentioned and try to plug them into the #2 spot right now..... donte is a good player... he'll come around with the playbook and he's gotten very wise on how to take care of his body..... honestly, the better we perform as a team, the more he'll be willing to get out there and contribute...

I don't like it, seriously! The guy had a #1 yr last yr, he gets better every year and look who was at QB last yr...He'll stay my #2, I don't care how good they look, they haven't even played a regular season game before and he has...
If we did get rid of him, I say to the Eagles for a 4th rounder along with Roderick Hood |
rod hood? no shot... sheldon brown or lito sheppard, no less than one of them....
|
we don't really need another 4th rd. pick.... if we are going to give away an offensive option, then we need an instant defensive option... not a "maybe down the road" option in the future.... but then again, i really don't see stallworth going anywhere, so why i am i even replying to this nonsense...
|
For those who don't want Stallworth traded...
How do you propose we strengthen our weaknesses? |
our weaknesses should have been strengthened earlier (before the draft), not at the eleventh hour or waiting for the waiver wire.... we simply ignored it during the early free agent period and were hoping that what we have is good enough, which it isn't.... lots of finger crossing going on in the coaches offices.... trading stallworth leaves us with one receiving threat.... hass is a good possesion reciever and makes for a great check down option, but he's not a #2, not yet.... i hope, boy do i hope, he develops into one, esp. given joe horn's age, but right now he's a #3 at best.... same for colston and jones... henderson and johnson can go blow each other b/c that's what they do.... suck...
|
Hood is a very good player, Sheppard is at the end of a contract and Brown, we all know that they aren't giving away their best two corners...
Why not Hood??? He has awesome #'s for a team with Brown and Sheppard, hes very young, and then we could get at most a 3rd rounder |
he's good, but his numbers are good, b/c of brown and sheppard.... if they weren't there his numbers would not be anywhere near what they are... he's a great nickel player, but i'll take proven (sheppard/brown) over possibility (hood) anyday....
|
I have posted elsewhere, the standard is that the broncos will take a 3rd for Lelie, the most comparable player. They haven't had any takers. I say Donte is better than him so maybe we could get a bite for a third rounder.
Disclaimer- I am a Donte fan. I do not however think the team can find a way to retain him for 2007. Thus, I would rather something for him than another walkaway for nothing like Bentley and Howard. The good looking even if unproven young receivers make this a lot easier too. I would rather a player that might help some of the weak links more though also. Thinking on the Donnie Edwards thing too... If we are offering a 4th and they say no, and if we value Donte as a 3rd, then why not offer Donte for Edwards and a 6th rounder from SD? Come on Mickey make something happen so we can get the new guys up to speed with the system here. ----If Donte sees an unusual amount of time and/or passes thrown to him Monday, that might be an indicator that they are showcasing him for a deal. Oui? |
We are recently in a trade for giving up Bethel and a low pick for Edwards, why Stall???
Don't be silly, please On the Hood situation, he has those #'s b/c he earned his playing time...He never played at nickel, he was on the sideline or in at #2 or 1...If he is a good nickle, why not get him now and develop him Eagles aren't giving away those two guys period, and you shou;d know that |
well, i see you're point and it is valid, but what the point i'm trying to convey, that you may be missing is that hood, while a great young cb prospect with good years still in front of him, would be my no. 3 "want" from the eagles secondary.... if i'm going to trade stallworth to an nfc team, i'm going to go after one of their premier players as well, in hopes that it will hurt the balance of their team as to help out our own situation here.... honestly, any of those 3 would be an improvement to what we currently have, but if i were to pull the trigger on that trade (or even propose it) i'd request one of the two players i mentioned before, brown or sheppard....

I think Jones could be a #2 in this league. He runs clean routes and catches better than Donte'. He reminds me of a bigger, stronger Pathon. I get the feeling he's going to be dependable. I agree that Colston and Hass could both be a good #3. Nice slam on Devery and Bethel         |
^^^Exactly, I'd give up Stall for Brown or Sheppard, but they aren't willing to do that...
So I'd go with the next best improvement, Hood and a good draft pick...And maybe we'd go with someone good in the draft, after Thomas and McKenzie leaves, we'll have Hood and Lay at good development We'd have the best youngest, corners duo in the league |
josh lay?! right...
|
jones as a number 2? that's a stretch to say the least.... don't get me wrong.... i absolutely love the guy... but not as a number 2.... if in fact we'd trade stallworth (won't happen, but for the sake of argument), i really think hass would have the inside track consider the henderson/johnson situation and the fact the hass catches everything but HIV when he's in the game....
|
Lay has been impressing more at CB than all of them...He has been making sharp quick, smart decisons...He's very fast and hes no dummy, every time the ball is thrown in his area(Brees too), instead of forcing a play, he makes a play on the ball cleanly...Even in the game we had, he didn't get beat at all. Hes cousin of Ty Law, hopefully he can play like that, and one more thing, he's FAST
|
the youngest corners duo will be d. hall and jimmy williams for the falcons, ken lucas and chris gamble for the panthers, shall i go on? josh lay? our 6th rd. pick this year? man alive.... that's some wishful thinking...
|
oh he's the cousin of ty law?? well then hell yeah... let's induct him into canton tomorrow.... sheesh....
|
^^^^ Hass as a #2, really? While he does catch everything, I think most #2 CB's in the league could cover him THIS SEASON. As a #3 he would thrive catching passes over the middle.
|
Dude, you have to see this guy play, hes sorta of faster, more consistent, Jason Sehorn
He never likes to give up a play, once Jones went ona cut route and he got there a little bit late to play the ball, he smashed Jones and then got mad at himself, dude! I agree with you on the duo part, but we'll be up there too |
hass was pretty well covered the other night when he made a catch b/w two defenders.... get my drift? the kid a football player, not a project.... he can contribute right now, more so than anyone else... he not the fastest, biggest, tallest, prettiest, but he has the intangibles that separates him, to me, than the others....
|
Point taken. I just want a receiver who catches and can make yds.
|
He can catch no doubt
|
There are some on here that would tell you that Donte is worth a 1st rounder. As I've maintained for months, a conditional pick is the best we could hope for, and a 3rd is more probable.
|
when it comes to donte, i say leave him be.... he was productive last year, he'll be productive this year, and if he wants to walk after this year, screw him... hopefully, he'll see this team will have a viable future with reggie and brees and he'll want to remain on the squad.... if not, oh well... as long as he goes out this year and plays lights out, which in a contract year he's almost certain to do...
|
Donte's worth more than a number 3. It's his contract status that's not. If he had a couple years left on it we'd be able to move him for a 2nd rounder or maybe a low first. I think it's too late to be moving him and get any sort of impact for this season in return. Like chRxis said, Donte will want to perform in his contract year to showcase himself for his next team. Let us be the fruits of his labors this season.
|
:P it is so hard to assign a number to the guy? It has nothing to do with trading him tomorrow. For the Love of God. we have beaten this topic to death on other threads. time was now to say what he is worth that is it. If a team called the front Office and offered a 1 we would all say okay. well most. just a number, that all. debates are done time to pick.
so we have Desperate to obtain: 2 most think he is a: 3 desperate to dump a: 4 should have made this a poll :computer2: do agree hass is a #3, Jones a #2 but the real test is 3 games away. |
4th round
|
thank you :D
|
Stallworth isnt go anywhere yall all know that we wont resign him and he will go to another team which we probly could have traded to them.......... duh.........
