Broncos | Team could swap first-round picks with Washington
Tue, 22 Aug 2006 20:17:35 -0700 Correcting a previous report, the Denver Broncos could swap first-round picks with the Washington Redskins as part of the three-team deal involving former Broncos WR Ashley Lelie. If the Broncos finish with a better record than the Redskins, Denver would receive the Redskins' third-round pick and they would flip-flop first-round picks. If the Redskins finish with a better record than the Broncos, Denver would receive the Redskins' third- and fourth-round picks in the 2007 NFL Draft. Broncos | Team receives 2007 third-round pick in Lelie three-way trade Tue, 22 Aug 2006 19:24:43 -0700 Paul Newberry, of the Associated Press, reports the Denver Broncos received the Washington Redskins' third-round pick in the 2007 draft as part of the three-way deal that shipped WR Ashley Lelie to the Atlanta Falcons and RB T.J. Duckett to the Redskins, according to two officials within the league who spoke on condition of anonymity because the trade had not been officially announced. atlanta gets Lilie....Washinton gets Duckett Denver is getting the best #1 pick between between them and wash. a guarented 3rd from washinton. If denver chokes they get an additional 4 to go with the 3. Denver did this last year too. They ended up as a major power broker in the draft. they got the players they wanted by moving around and had a great draft. not bad for a playoff team that lost in the AFC championship game. They look to be cornering the market in picks again. Here is the icing on the cake: Broncos | Lelie reportedly has to pay back part of his signing bonus Tue, 22 Aug 2006 20:02:09 -0700 ESPN.com's Len Pasquarelli reports Atlanta Falcons WR Ashley Lelie's fines for his training camp absence came to $378,000. Lelie also lost a $100,000 workout bonus because he did not participate in offseason workouts, and one league source suggested late Tuesday, Aug. 22, that he also had to repay the Denver Broncos a portion of his original rookie signing bonus. I wish we could put together trades like this. I want Denver's front here. |

I'm witcha. Still not a believer in Loomis. If he gets some good input from real football guys he might get the job done.
Don't you think you could work to get something out of a package of Stallworth, Dwight Smith, Bethel Johnson, and one of the other WRs that will be let go? I appreciate letting Smith go for the betterment of his career but this ain't no social club. Surely we could have got something for him. NE worked to get a 7th rd pick in a trade this week. |
