I'm not going to watch this year
I'm by nature an optomist and a Saints fan! Afterwatching their Monday night game I know one thing for sure! New Orleans has a long way to go before they can be considered a good team. I really think they could have the first or second pick in next years draft! Jammal got tossed on several plays...Duece certainly isn't healthy and Dallas riping off what seemed like 20 yards every play didn't give me a warm feeling about our defense! I realize the starters didn't play much, but when they did they didn't impress me, and if we don't have depth we are in for a long season! The linebacker we got from Dallas has played 4 years and only has 77 total tackles...not good, we need quality players and leadership! I hope Payton has a long-term gameplay, and I think he has some nice personell in place to head in the right direction, but the foundation is about to crumble and take all of the quality guys with it! i WAS SICK TO MY STOMACH mONDAY NIGHT!

Some people were disappointed with the performance Monday night, me included, but man this is WAY overboard. What did you expect from this team this year? We were 3-13 last year and had MASSIVE turnover top to bottom. I had been saying all along any hopes of the playoffs is unreal, we just need to see improvement. We will be more competitive than Monday Night certainly beause our offense won't run so many junk short yardage plays, and Deuce and Reggie will be on the field a whole game. When we finally opened up the offens ebefore the half, we drove right down the field. That's encouraging at least. We did not do that the first few series. We will be exciting to watch this year, so don't miss it. Record isn't as important to me this year as competitveness. I believe we can at least be in just about every game. Now, we are gonna get blown out once or twice, I have no doubts about that. But we should mainly be looking for improvement. Don't close your eyes yet.

i HOPE YOU ARE RIGHT, BUT i REALLY FELT LIKE WE WERE BETTER THAN 3-13 LAST YEAR, BUT KATRINA MESSED WITHT THE TEAM AND TOOK A TOLL! i'M EXCITED ABOUT OUR SKILL PLAYERS AND HAPPY TO HAVE REGGIE, BUT FEEL LIKE HE MAY GET HURT WITH OUR PATCHED-TOGHETHER LINE. oUR DEFENSE USED TO SEND 3-4 LINEBACKERS TO hAWAII AND i THINK THEY ARE SOFT RIGHT NOW! I'M VERY FRUSTERATED AND THE SEASON HASN'T BEGUN. I'M IN CLEVELAND ON THE 45 YARD LINE FOR THE OPENER AND FEEEL LIKE WE MAY LOSE TO CLEVELAND, WHO IS HORRIBLE!

What people fail to realize our problems were truely with the lines! We have not I repeat NOT any better on the lines at all! Sugar coat it anyway you want but we aren't able to block on a consistant or dominating manner nor are we able to stop the run. Until any freakin coach decides that the way to turn this team around is on the lines. When you can dominate the line you can have a control ground game you win. The only thing we have going for us is to hopefully get lucky in games and win them that way with a couple of brilliant plays a game from a slashing RB. We sucked last year and we are going to suck this year on the very same weaknest.
ANYONE witness Da Brick his last game and knocking down to D players??? doesn't matter who we have a RB as long as we can dominate up front most any RB will look good in our backfield. |

What makes you think Deuce has yet to recover from his injury? He had two carries, one of which was a very powerful carry as he pulled quite a few Cowboys down the field for a few extra yards. He missed the screen pass, but that's nothing new with Deuce (or the Saints). His lacking of the ability to catch has nothing to do with his injury.

I saw his two carries and I thought he looked timid. The fact that much was made of him being ready to play and starting the game makes me think he's not ready as well. He was in then out...a healthy back would have played a full quarter! I think...I hope i'm wrong!

I didn't want Deuce to be played very much in that game. We all know what Deuce is capable of. The coaches know if he's suffering from his injury when he makes cuts in practice. There was no reason for Deuce to even be in the game except just to get a few good, full-contact carries in legitimate plays.
You may be right. He might not be 100% back, but I don't think it's going to be a big deal. As far as his timidness goes, he's been blamed for that during his last two seasons or so. |

I hope he's back 100% for Cleveland! We are going to need a big bruiser to get 3yards up the gut....mostly to keep our defense off the field.

I'm with Whodi, this isn't a year to get your expectations too high. Hope all you want, take all that comes joyously, but be realistic. Also, the quality of play is what I want to see. The antitype of the Haz years- low penalties, seeing real gamers out there, and the sense that it is coming together- piece by piece. Contrary to Shack I think we were a 3-13 team last year. I think we were a 5-11 year the year before but the lucky last 4 wins gave Haz another year to implode further (and did he). Katrina was a terrible disadvantage no doubt. But they were still very bad. My beef in the last in the last 4 Haz years was exactly what I want to see changed now--- The play calling was predictable, bad personnel moves were made, the penalties-ugh, the D coordinator should have been ousted years back, he played favorites with players, there was that wacky infatuation with athletes versus ball players, on and on... Change those things and I will be satisfied whether 5-11 or 11-5. Build an organization properly, run it professionally, and then the results will come in due time. Jeff Fisher is one of my favorite coaches. 9-23 the past two years. Anybody questioning him? Nope, his performance is well proven. (Floyd Reese should've been tossed ther for allowing cap hell) Payton may be a Hall of Fame inductee after his years here. I was gonna say, then again he may be worse than J.D. Roberts, but he cannot be THAT bad. But we may have nooses hung from trees for him in a couple of years. Let's DO watch the show though, they really do seem even more like "our" team after Katrina.
Cleveland could be a win, Green Bay sucks worse than us, so the rockin' Monday for the Falcons could make for 3-0. That would be just about enough right there to put '05 away no matter how few wins come after that. |
