They may do better in the regular season.
I notice people keep saying, "Why don't they do this or do that." They may very well do all of these things everyone brings up. But the may do it in the regular season, when it counts. They might do a lot more blitzing, they might put different players in different positions during the regular season. They might run alot of different plays in the regular season than they do in preseason. We don't know what they are going to do. I just hope they play well during the season.

RE: They may do better in the regular season.
Blitzing will not stop the run, nor will 4th year vetrans that have accumulated 77 career tackles. Schemes will not make our offensive line better or keep Brown from getting thrown to the ground. We don't have many good players, and when your personell stinks, coaching can't make you too much better. Payton is brilliant, but will need to get the right personell in the off-season!

They were blizing and not getting any penatration. Getting pushed around and man-handled. The only worse our O-line can do is just lay down when the ball is hiked.

I know! Our offensive line is so bad, Brees hasn't been sacked yet!

In preseason it is still time for hope. There are plenty of documented turnarounds. Recent Panthers from 1-15 to 7-9 to Superbowl, last year division winning Bears and Bucs were top 5 draft pickers the previous spring, et., etc. Hope on. Plenty of teams have had very pronounced improvements with new coaches without significant personnel improvement. Hope on. There are some real holes and weak areas on this squad though. It is difficult to be playoff caliber and go 3-13 no matter how you cut it. I still hope for a turnaround story like has never been seen before. But whether it is a 4-12 or 12-4 year what I most want to see is the quality of play, gameplan, coaching, and personnel management. So far I might not have done everything along the lines as Payton has but I am not in his position. He is 0-0 and I have no praise or criticism of the results yet... because there are no results yet. As bad as the Browns and Packers are 2-0 is very conceivable. Cap that with a Monday night reopening of the dome rockfest and 3-0 would be enought to obliterate last year's horror. Win 3 of the next 13 and I would be happy. But more than the record is the quality of play. As I ranted about Jeff Fisher in another thread... The Titans play good ball IMO. The personnel may vary from bad to good but they are always prepared and seem to get the most from what they have. Enough re-rant here.

Keep in mind that preseason is like practice, the coaches doesn't want their players to get injured, also the coaches don't want to give any indication to other teams on their plays that they will use, the great schemes and plays are for regular season, not preseason, so with this said I'm keeping the faith..

They'll do better, if Payton can address the ST's like he did before the Dallas game, he can put strees on the other things
