Raiders may be willing to deal WR Joey Porter for Stallworth
Interesting Post on the Raiders site.... Seems Joey Porter is desprate to get out of Oakland
http://www.raiderfans.net/forum/showthread.php?t=78552 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Associated Press - Porter humiliated - Oakland Raiders NAPA -- The horn sounded. "Pack 'em up," someone yelled. Doug Gabriel and Stuart Sweigert raced each other back to the locker room, and Chris Carr threw the football high into the air like a graduation salute. Raiders' training camp had closed. Lost in all this was that Jerry Porter was the first to leave the parking lot. And with good reason. His time in Napa has yielded a demotion and the wrath of his teammates. Everyday he wore the same t-shirt that sent a very clear signal to everyone in the Raiders organization and to the world in general. He has been teased and given the silent treatment. He has been gang tackled and shoved. But yesterday afternoon he was humiliated. Several Raider players ripped from his body the beloved shirt he has so proudly displayed, tore it into shreds, and left at his feet. It was a very brief encounter, but no punches were thrown. The players' message, however, was clear. Surprisingly, there are few Porter sympathizers, even in the modern player-protected era of money football. Team leaders Warren Sapp and Randy Moss have reportedly challenged Porter to get on board, but he has yet to play with the first team offense. He isn't speaking with the media, and it doesn't look like any other team wants him. Unless Shell promotes him back to the starting line-up, Jerry Porter may not even underacheive this year. He may be driving off into that strange oblivion of overpaid self-pronounced superstars who never really made it. |
