Why all the hate on McKenzie?

This preseason McKenzie hasn't looked all that good. I'll give you that. But do any of you think we have consistantly put any pressure on the QB in the first half or installed any blitz packages? This preseason, all of the othe teams QBs have had too much time to throw the ball that anybody would have a hard time. Considering last year was bad for everyone and the fact that we don't have anybody better and are unlikely to get anybody better....

You guys should give old McK the benefit of the doubt and lay off one of our better defensive players until after the season starts and he proves again that he is not W.A.S.

OK?

Were you looking at cat pictures when he had three "quality" penalty's against the Colts cause he couldn't cover the WR?

Because, despite playing with a bad hammy, he should be expected to cover receivers like Harrison in single coverage. Rodney is washed up for Christ's sake. Get him off the field, if we're going to get burnt, let's at least do it with a rookie like Lay or Mason, so we can watch their confidence be decimated. Now that's what I call entertainment.

Right now Mckenzie is being beat like a drum. However, as has been stated here, given enough time most "good" QB's will find a receiver open and we have not been applying any pressure. The guy is a good corner...but he, like any good corner, needs the FULL defense to do their jobs!

MM can be a productive player. During the preseason, I found myself wondering, "Didn't we sign or draft about 20 safeties? Why isn't MM getting any of that safety help?"

hagan714 08-30-2006 10:59 PM

accept the fact he is a number #2 playing at a #1 and getting paid like a #1. Terry glenn one week then manning and company the next. I can cut him some slack. just a bit

jnormand 08-31-2006 03:52 AM

I gotta agree with BMG. Where are the 5000 safeties that we have on the roster?

shackney 08-31-2006 08:12 AM

McKenzie is just okay

McKenzie is not Deion Sanders, but he's the best CB we have and we do need Big Willie and C. Grant to get some heat on opposing Q.B.'s! Terry Glenn is a stud, and by the way, that was a perfectly thrown pass! Our safeties will have to play better..particularly in run support since we don't have quality LB's.

RE: McKenzie is just okay

I've literally watched McKenzie walk through plays during regular season games. Watch last year's game with Miami at Tiger Stadium. He jogged, maybe, twice the entire game. He was walking for most of the rest.

I lost all respect for him after that.

LKelley67 08-31-2006 12:53 PM

funny but sad DJ. Didn't catch that. But has anyone else ever noticed how he runs up to plays that have virtually ended? It reminds me of laborers that do some moving to look busy but don't actually get much done. They want to promote the perception of being a go getter while actually doing the opposite. Watch tonight and see if ya pick it up.

I ain't hating on him either, just honest objectivity and observation. I support him all I can while he wears that gold helmet. He is the best we have but that ain't saying a lot. I agree with others that as a #2 next to a superglue CB on the other side he would look way better. But then, who wouldn't?

BoudinSandwich 08-31-2006 12:56 PM

I just want him to up his game. He ups his game, I'll shut my mouth and applaud him. Until then, I'm going to complain.

LKelley67 08-31-2006 01:09 PM

Man DJ, I am a blues connesieur. That post rang like a blues lyric...

McKenzie Blues

He better up his game
and if he don't up his game
I'm still gonna shout out and complain about Mike M

Now if he ups his game
Then it won't be the same
I'll stand up and be the first in line applauding him

BoudinSandwich 08-31-2006 01:15 PM

Hahahaha!

I love that low-down and dirty Blues, too, yeah me!

I think I might grab my acoustic tonight and write this song.
