RE: offical cuts for NO

I really don't understand cutting a young McPherson and keeping an old Bouman as 3rd string.

LordOfEntropy 09-02-2006 09:21 AM

Well at least M. Lewis has more time. Shame A-Mac didn't work out.

biloxi-indian 09-02-2006 09:32 AM

11 down and 11 to go. I guess we know the rest of the story before 2pm CST today.

I hope Hass and Branch make it, but doubtful. If nothing else I hope they clear the waiver wire for the PS.

BlackandBlue 09-02-2006 09:35 AM

not a single wr cut this round. interesting.....

BreesFN9 09-02-2006 09:47 AM

What's up with Hilton?

That surprised me, he filled in well last year. Does that mean Conwell is the go to guy now?

procto 09-02-2006 09:48 AM

why do we go and cut colby, its not like we are paying him alot of money and he is a solid backer, even if he does not start, he has been all over the field this preseason! i am a little upset to see it

biloxi-indian 09-02-2006 10:02 AM

TE that made the first cut...Conwell, Lawrie, and Campbell, gone are Euhus, Miller, and Hilton.

exiled 09-02-2006 10:29 AM

what did others think of Hilton in the preseason? I sure liked him at the end of last year - and was very disapointed to see him go. Sheeze, the guy is what 8 foot 12. I guess he souldn't have fumbeled in KC

saintsfan1313 09-02-2006 10:36 AM

i dont get this at all....Bockwoldt was a serviceable backup and a demon on special teams and he prolly makes less than i do a year and we cut him?? I dont get it.....also Hilton. I thought this guy was gunna "break out" this year, did that just mean from our roster???? A-mac I would have liked to stay around just cuz Bouman would be leaving.

Bobaganoosh 09-02-2006 10:54 AM

i dont think money had anything to do with Bockwoldt being cut. They cut him because of the fact that isnt any good. He will not get picked up by any other team, especially to play LB, and thats about it. As for Hilton, i seem to remember having a debate about how all of you were hyping him up for nothing...and i remember someone getting in trouble for saying Hilton was going to be just like Boo Williams. Doesnt seem so silly now does it?

BlackandBlue 09-02-2006 11:17 AM

someone got in trouble? on this board? nawwww.........

mikesaintfan 09-02-2006 11:19 AM

Amac cut...that SUCKS
I would have liked to see hilton make it b/c of his hight

Hi, stopped lurking and finally registered, Saints fan since I was 13 (don't ask how old I am now!).
It actually makes perfect sense, given the uncertainty of Brees recovery and the fact that AMAC was not the QB of the future in Payton's eyes. I believe Payton will draft a "project" of HIS choosing next year, not the leftover from a coach who had no clue about QB talent. I could be wrong....

maverick68 09-02-2006 11:24 AM

Oooops, didn't mean to put the whole thing in quotes...sorry....

I trust Payton's judgement. He's been cutting or trading the guys that Haz had people thinking were worthy of being NFL starters. Watson, Boo Williams, Brooks, Sullivan, and the jury of course is still out out on Stallworth. But it looks like he's made sound decisions across the board. I'm almost certain Bockwoldt's career is over, unless Haz picks him up in St. Louis.

lumm0x 09-02-2006 02:20 PM

Very surprised to see Colby's name on there. Seemed like a character guy with a good motor and a very good special teamer. Oh well, it's not a huge loss.

papz 09-02-2006 02:26 PM

I was rootin' for ya Colby... sorry to see ya go. I hope he lands with someone soon... hard worker right there. Amazing how Hilton had a good year last season and now he's trash. I don't think he had a fair shot but oh well.

biloxi-indian 09-02-2006 02:28 PM

I don't think Hilton is "trash"! He is not the ideal blocker nor is he as good as Lawrie! I wish Zach all the best in his next adventure.

D24pick 09-02-2006 06:04 PM

Agreed Biloxi-indian....

Lawrie has been the 2nd best TE all Camp, hes the best blocker on the team with pure hands...Only problem is his quickness off the line and his timing

wppatin 09-02-2006 06:57 PM

PS for AMAC.............maybe, then return to active roster later during season, Bouman cut at that time? Or as stated earlier, Peyton's own prospect next year, either way Bouman is not long term

D24pick 09-02-2006 08:26 PM

I hate em he sucks

MJS2k7 09-02-2006 08:32 PM

I would have thought hilton would have more trade value than to just be waived-at least based on production last year.

D24pick 09-02-2006 08:32 PM

Yeah, now teams like NY Jets and Houston will pay good money for em

hagan714 09-02-2006 08:38 PM

things are slowing down on the wire so the tough choices have not happened for the saints. maybe a trade in the works?

Bobaganoosh 09-02-2006 10:45 PM

no one was going to make a trade with the Saints for Hilton or Branch. I dont know why some of you think the Saints are just cutting these guys instead of maximizing their value. We'll see if either of them becomes a contributer in the league somewhere, but the smart money says they wont.
