Payton Speaks

I liked this-

"I'm anxious to see what we have. The mistake is staying put with a team that just finished 3-13. The last thing we want to do is leave things alone," Payton said. "I think some of these young guys have played well and I wouldn't be putting them into those positions if they hadn't earned it. Having to visit with Jermane Mayberry — those are tough visits — but Jahri Evans has played well, Roman Harper ... I'm not interested in ... waiting if they're ready and they're our best options — and I like those options."

My mantra for several years, we kept losing the same way with the same players or same sort of players. I'll take 3-13 again if it isn't with the predictable schemes, undisciplined penalties, and erratic player performances. Build it right and the wins will come.

He also talks about why Hass and Horn cut while bringing in Copper.

As much as I was hoping Hass would make the final 53...Payton gets IT! It is all about players who provide mulitiple opportunities to be on the field with an opportunity to provide VALUE.

Some may not like his style, but Payton has VISION (albeit his)!

3-13 is still 3-13, I don't care how you look at it.

That's true euph, but if changing things around and letting young kids play in order to help the team get better in the future is definitely a good thing. I was so tired of watching Aaron Brooks and Tebucky Jones and so many other idiots "mistake" our seasons away, and Haslett never did crap about it. If it's broke, fix it.

There is something to be said about quality of play. The talent level may vary but you identify the teams that play solid ball whether they are 6-10 or 10-6. Parcells will be in the HOF cuz of that evn more than the titles. Anybody questioning Jeff Fisher? Maybe wacky Floyd Reese. I guarantee he wouldn't be out on the open market long before he was snatched up tho. Same reason. I dunno if Payton is all that. The proof is in the pudding. I like what i see so far tho.
