Lawrie is emergency QB!
<New Orleans Saints coach Sean Payton revealed his contingency plan in case both quarterbacks Drew Brees and Jamie Martin fall victim to injury in the same game.
The plan is what you would call unconventional. Third-string tight end Nate Lawrie would be the emergency quarterback in the freak occurrence where Brees and Martin would go down.> http://www.sunherald.com/mld/sunhera...s/15457354.htm |

RE: Lawrie is emergency QB!
Sweet. For some reason I think the only thing Nate would have to do is hike the ball, and then turn and give it to a RB. Let's really really hope that doesn't happen.

So, I guess it is official, A-Mac is not going to be a Saint this year. It just seems kind of cheap to cut the guy loose, without putting him on IR or signing him to the practice squad. Peyton once called him the most gifted all-around talent on the team. The timing is terrible considering the nature and circumstances of the injury.

He might have worlds of talent, but he doesn't have enough to be solid in one specific position. People are beating him out. It sucks in a way, but, when you think about it, maybe that's a good sign.

Xan, where can I view an official list of Saints players on IR? I have yet to read an article stating that A-Mac has been added to IR.

<Quarterback Adrian McPherson, receiver Bethel Johnson and defensive end Jimmy Verdon all cleared waivers, so the Saints placed them on injured reserve.>

Thanks for the information, BI. Having been placed on IR, are they eligible to play this season?

There is a definite trend of reverting back to having only 2 QBs active and one on the PC in the NFL. 1) SOL if you are down to the #3 anyway 2) Roster spots are too valuable to have a guy for that unlikely event.
You saw Troy Brown for NE, I have read of others, TE Magum is #3 for Carolina, etc |
