Bush Limelight

I don't know about you but I am liking the attention the Saints are getting a lot just cuz of Reggie. This morning there are articles from all over about him and the team, not just a rehashed wire story repeated.

Pittsburgh- Hey, Steelers ... beware of Bush on Nov. 12

Washington Post- Bush's Beginning

Even World Golf- Bush in 06: If Reggie Bush's first game is any indication, he's headed to a Rookie of the Year season (and Pro Bowl) and Mario Williams (taken in the draft before Bush) is headed toward "Sam Bowie" status (three tackles in his team's loss, Bush's Saints won). Bush is the next Marshall Faulk, he can do it all, and is going to ressurect the New Orleans franchise, and possibly end the poverty and dissention in the Big Easy (with help...).

RE: Bush Limelight

National commercials help a lot. I'm glad a Saints player is getting this kind of hype, but is anyone else disappointed that he's not wearing any Saints id? I can understand it for Adidis, Nike & Reebok have the NFL contracts. But diet Pepsi had him wearing black, but the last two years the other players were in Pats uniforms for those commercials. I like the hype, but wish more of it added the team into the mix.

Didn't he have on the gold spikes again? Adidas will gladly pay the fines for the advertising (which Reggie should keep his yap shut about). But after a few warnings a suspension will come into play.

The team gets a cut if he uses the uni's or the logo in a commercial. I guess that Benson didn't want any of the royalties from the commercial. I don't care how rich you are, if someone's giving you free money, take it.

He needs to lose those shoes. He slipped all over the field during the game.

LKelley67 09-12-2006 06:23 AM

Remember that brouhaha from the preseason regarding Reggie Bush's decision to defy the NFL and wear shoes bearing adidas logos in his preseason debut? The problem initially was solved when adidas supplied him with plain shoes having no markings, and thus requiring no tape to obscure the logo.

On Sunday, Bush was back in his adidas.

So what happened? Did he decide to thumb his nose at the league again? Did adidas promise to funnel him under the table whatever cash was necessary to pay the ensuing fines?

No, and no. As it turns out, adidas was added last week as one of the official suppliers of shoes and gloves for NFL teams, joining Reebok (which adidas owns), Nike, and UnderArmour.

Adidas signed a contract with the NFL last week allowing Bush to wear the shoes.

Did everyone enjoy Ditka slamming the Texans and dissing Mario Willliams as much as I did. One time he was talking about Bush and said sarcastically, "...well, he's no Mario Williams for sure." and the rest of the cast cracked up.

Then there was poor pathetic Charlie Casserly on CBS still trying to justify the Williams pick. I don't get a lot of pleasure from too many people's failure but Williams 3 tackle-no sack kind of games will only make Reggie's exclamation point all the bigger.

1. I hate to be one of those people who puts too much stock into the happenings of Week 1, but I think yesterday's action proved once and for all that the Texans screwed up by picking Mario Williams over Reggie Bush. Just look at the numbers. Total yards for Bush yesterday? An impressive 141. And for Williams? Zero yards. That's right, zero. Good job, Texans, you idiots.
Frickin halarious.

No Vikings players jerseys are among the top 25 sellers in the NFL, although former Viking Randy Moss' Oakland Raiders jersey ranks No. 5. New Orleans Saints rookie Reggie Bush's jersey is No. 1, and the Green Bay Packers' Brett Favre's No. 14.

Vince who?

LKelley67 09-14-2006 01:07 PM

Sports Business Daily is out with its list of the most marketable players in the NFL and one thing is perfectly clear from a quick look at the list: quarterback is still the glamor position of the NFL. Four out of the top five members of the list, and six out of the top ten, are QBs led by Peyton Manning in an overwhelming vote. Manning received nearly 52% of the first place votes to Tom Brady's 34%. The third place finisher and only non-Qb in the top five is rookie running back Reggie Bush.

Vince who?
I wasn't 100% convinced about taking Bush because there had been no talk of him coming to NO, but thank God I'm not in charge because I wanted Vince. But, in the end, the right choice was made and with Reggie's dedication to making a difference charitably in whatever city he went to, it was fate because what area needs charity right now more than NOLA? But if everything goes the way it's supposed to and Reggie is already #3, imagine how sick we'll be of seeing his face EVERYWHERE by next year! You have to love Peyton; but after the Manning Bowl, if I never see another Manning family member, it'll be too soon. (Besides, just WHEN is Peyton going to make it to the Super Bowl?!?)

NFL's Bush, Top Rookie Endorser, Scores $5 Million in Contracts

By Curtis Eichelberger

Sept. 7 (Bloomberg) -- Good looks, a Heisman Trophy and an attention-grabbing running style have combined to bring New Orleans Saints rookie Reggie Bush a record $5 million in endorsements from PepsiCo Inc., General Motors Corp., Adidas AG and Subway Restaurants.

If he is as successful on the field as he has been with advertisers, Bush's outside income may soon rival that of Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning, the National Football League endorsements leader with more than $10 million a year.

``He's the best rookie endorser ever, No. 1 in history,'' said Scott Becher, 43, president of Sports & Sponsorships, a consulting firm in Coral Gables, Florida. ``From an off-the-field standpoint, it's been pretty incredible. And I think it's going to get even better.''
