I'm sure the line play was terrible, but dude has always held the ball too long and created sacks.
McCarthy and Brooks got their new beginnings and the two of them combined to created ZERO points in week one. Way to go guys. Onward and upward. |
just for contrast I thought this fresh post I found in another Saints forum by a SD fan is a good comparison-
I would like to wish Drew Brees and the Saints luck in the coming season, I am a native San Diegan and Charger Fan for 30 Years, And i would like to say a few things about the man you now have as a quarterback. Not since Dan Fouts has the Chargers had an intelligent and natural leader as Drew Brees, never has the team shown such respect for a quarterback as the chargers had for Drew. It was a shame that we lost a man of his character and i hope Rivers can fill his shoes. To Saints fans everywhere, You have a great man at the Helm stand behind him and have faith and Brees will deliver, give him some time to grow and i believe he has the potential for greatness. Get to know your new QB and you will see what i am talking about, I will be routing for the Saints this year and hopefully years to come as long as Drew is there (accept against the Chargers ). And i think i speak for most SD fans when i say we wish you the best Drew, we love you!! Charger Fan |

Thank you, Mrs. Brees :D |
LKelley67, thanks for the post. There's no better compliment for a player than rooting for his new team. It means he's respected and loved. Sometimes players get one, but rarely both.

Back to Brooks; I was just watching a replay of the post-game report of the MNF broadcast. Dick Vermeil called the offense "the most inept offense" he had ever seen. This is an offense with Randy Moss and LaMont Jordan. Last year they were pretty bad, but they weren't this bad. What's the difference I wonder?

I am not a Brooks hater, but definitely not a supporter. The Raiders did nothing to help their quarterback last night. The O-Line was a sieve and the receivers dropped at least 4 passes that I saw. Now, Brooks' major complaint while he was with the Saints is that he never stepped up into the pocket to avoid a rush, but backpeddled into it; he did that most often when pressured last night again. However, I don't really think it mattered much.
Thank God, Allah, Yahweh, Jesus, Buddah, Confucious, Rah and Zeus that he's no longer our problem. |

Hey...it's not hatin, it's just what it is. |
The O line was terrible!! But to blame just them is silly, as Brooks is responsible for half of those sacks. He showed exactly what most of us expected, ineptitude.
|
That was all the O-line last night... You can't fault Brooks. His mechanics were there but the O-line was not. I seriously didn't think it was funny. It would be like laughing at the Trent Green hit. For a bunch of so called professional football and now days all you hear is the pareity in the league... there wasn't any in that game. Can the Packers, Raiders be that bad...
