Payton on Horn's play...........

<INAUSPICIOUS START: Payton said wide receiver Joe Horn did not play "particularly well" against the Browns. He caught two passes for 25 yards but had several drops and didn't block particularly well downfield on running plays. "There is a run or two where we might have scored with just the effort down the field," Payton said. "That is something we can do a better job moving forward. I think Joe would say the same thing after he sees the tape. He had a big catch for us later in the game. It wasn't one of his better games. I think he can play better." >

Insanity is defined as doing the same thing over, over, and over again...and expecting a different outcome!

Sounds a little harsh on Horn, I think alot of went down wasnt his fault. Here's hoping he has a big game next week.

RE: Payton on Horn

I have to disagree with Payton on that,.... most of Bress passes were late getting there giving DB opportunities to deflect or intercept. Brees have the lowest pass rating out of the the teams that won there game. I am not trying to bash him but he more @ blame for the passes he thrown, on the other hand I don't know what play he is talking bout Horn cause us miss TD for a miss or poor block.

joe was on cold pizza this morning, don't read into it. joe is his own worst critic. joe will be fine, just payton's way of letting joe know he is a intrical part of the offense.

RE: Payton on Horn

He may have been a little hard on Joe, but this is only because he knows Joe can do better. He knows that Joe can play better than he did.

RE: Payton on Horn

I don't think he was hard on him at all. He was just being honest. Some people have a little rust the first game. It's not like they've been playing allot lately.

RE: Payton on Horn

Thinking about what he said about Horn made me think/realize/remember that Payton fell from the Parcell's tree and will probably use the same tactic of criticizing players in the media to motivate them.

Yeah, it's a little harsh. As was mentioned earllier, Brees didn't do him any favors, and the ball he caught there towards the end was huge. Horn will be fine, and so to will Drew. I expect Brees' arm will get stronger as we go, and he and Joe will get better working together too.

I'd rather Payton absolutely bash Horn than coddle him......which is what one former coach of ours who shall remain nameless used to do with his players.
