They may have picked by need, but 1) they picked a dude who will be a bust. I have gone into detail(after a very thorough analysis from TheDeuce) while I felt this way when we were rumored to be going after him before the draft. 2) Reggie Bush is a once in a lifetime player. I don't care what they NEEDED, you don't pass on that. You take him, trade Dom Davis for a defensive lineman or offensive lineman, and then laugh when he goes out for the year. We had no NEED for Bush, hell, we were gonna take AJ Hawk. He would have filled a huge NEED. But we took Bush anyway. Why? You don't pass on a player like that. THAT'S why the Texans are getting bashed for it, and will for the rest of either player's careers. NEED goes out the window when a player like Bush is on the board, as we proved. Unless Mario comes up with a couple of 12-15 sack seasons, the Texans will be smacked bu this move forever. Unless, well, I don't even wanna say it and jinx Reggie. But something catastrophic would have to happen for things to change.

You have to take reggie if for nothing but the business need. Every team needs to have the hottest jersey in the league.
Mario is in kindof a no win situation (other than the millions). Throw in the Davis injury and the Texans look even worse. Hey, the more people laugh at OTHER teams the better. When's the last time we got the last laugh...I guess Ricky is our only one. But we were missing the playoffs while we were laughing, so it's not as sweet. |

I know I say this about 20 times a year... what the hell does anyone pay attention to power rankings for??? it means nothing... there isn't any championship or tittle for being number 1 at the end of the year. All it is is it gives sportswriters a job. They are someone's opinon that means nothing and you can tell by some of the moves they are so off target with reality its not even fun sometimes. How can a team move from 30th to 15 in one week...
No you need to draft on needs... and future. We can argue from here to eternity wether it was the right move for Houston or not. If you go with it was the right move for Houston then in the same breathe you can say it was the wrong move for New Orleans. RB, KR was not an area of need. Making a buisness move won't necessairly equate to wins either. Granted it brings some excitment to NO but I don't think we are any better than what we were last year. |

Wheelman,
If you applaud the Texans for taking Mario Williams over Reggie you are as clueless as anyone. Mario is going to be a bust, just like the other defensive lineman who have gone in the first round of the draft..Big Daddy to Cincinnati and Courtney Brown to the Browns. Reggie has value without a doubt. Mario is a crap shoot. There is no question who you take! By the way, how did the Texans do on the ground last week? Are you a college graduate? If so, what college did you attend? (I'll be sure not to send my kids there)! |

About a business move not automatically transfering to wins, I sort of agree. BUT, who do you think will help their team win more games, Reggie or Mario. This should be an obvious answer. Whether or not the Texans needed Bush shouldn't even be a question. There are only a few teams that wouldn't benefit greatly from taking bush with the 1st pick, and they either are super bowl caliber teams(Like the Seahawks), or already have a phenomenal RB(Chargers). Like I said, the bottom line is, Reggie will do more to help his team in wins than a DE will.

Oh yeah, also, you have to be a fool not to think we are a better team than we were last year.
