What Packer fans are saying.
I just read this on a Packers forum. This dude is out of his mind in my opinion. But I admire his loyalty. I feel his pain.
"This team better not got beat AT HOME BY THE FREAKIN SAINTS! The Saints have a HORRIBLE defense, that even the Packers lowly offense should be able to have success against. Their DT's are weak and get next to no push, they have no significant LB's and Mckenzie is all they have in the secondary. Their offense is improved, but it still shouldnt be enough for them to come in here and win. The Packers are a better overall team and if the only way they lose is the coach doesn't prepare them well enough. It would truly be embarassing if we lose this game.... I think I'd vomit repeatedly if the Saints come in here and embarass the Packers in Lambeau. Its one thing to lose a great Chicago team, but the Saints? We better win this ballgame. We did beat them 52-3 last year, but they did impove offensively. I just still beleive they don't match up well enough to beat us if we are focused. MM better light up that lockerroom and start calling a better game." Here's a link if you wanna read more. http://mb16.scout.com/fpackersfansfr...ID=24429.topic |
RE: What Packer fans are saying.
Apparently, he didn't pay attention to what we did to the Browns in week 1.
|
RE: What Packer fans are saying.
Not just that, but that he's just so sure about this. I'm not underestimating them. They could hurt us if we're not careful. It's just foolish to think that any win is guarenteed.
|
RE: What Packer fans are saying.
I hope somebody brings this to the attention of the players to fire 'em up!
|
RE: What Packer fans are saying.
I just think, since the beginning of training camp, EVERYONE has underestimated our defense.
Cleveland doesn't have the best offense, but it's not like the Saints let them look even remotely good on Sunday. I could understand if the Saints only looked mediocre against Cleveland, but they didn't. We dominated their offense. Look at the yards we allowed them. Look at the sacks. Those are not to be taken lightly for the Packers or ANYONE. Remember the plays we called in the Preseason? They looked absolutely nothing like the ones called for both the offensive and defensive units in this game, did they? |

He might want to train his gullet! Seems to me, he might be puking a lot!!! Break out the barf bags for em boys!!!! |
Come on now... the CHICAGO BEARS threw all over them... more importantly, REX GROSSMAN threw all over them. That's as low as it gets.
|
The thing is, I scout who we're gonna play next. Not just assume they're better/worse than last year. We had something like a 50% roster turnover. And last weeks game and this one will be good for us. Our team can get use to eachother and build some confidence before we face the Falcons.
|
had it not been for frye scrambling we would have totally dominated cleveland. i dont think farve is gonna be able to make those same plays that frye did. still, im not dumb enough to think were assured a win.

We should send him a bucket he is going to need it.

Actually this guy better prepare for it coming out both ends this Sunday SUCKS TO BE A CHEESE HEAD |
I say 2-0 going into the Monday night game, I would like to give my prediction for the Falcon game but will wait after the Packer game to say.
Saints 28 Packers 10 Very easy game for the Saints give they play as they should... |
Screw the Packer fans. What do they know about football. How may championships have they won anyway?
For you Casanova... some of us remember. http://www.dvdenlared.com/data/docs/...ky%20races.jpg |
The Saints will really get after Farve this weekend, if your a Farve fan don't watch this game because it will get ugly for the Packers..
|
I have scanned some BG forums and have found more fear about how bad they are, particularly McCarthy's coaching than any smack talk. After last year and then last week you would have to have cheese on the brain to talk smack.
forever, er, 11 championships |

I know we are all excited about what our D did against the Browns, but we do realize they had a 75 yard TD called back cause of a penalty, and had a chance before the half to make the game close on at least a FG if they didn't fumble. And that was with Charlie Frye. While I do expect us to beat Green Bay, cleveland beat themselves a little bit too. Not that I won't take it, I will. But like someone said, we have two young safeties, and if anyone can exploit that, it may be Favre. We SHOULD win, but I am not basing that on how we played against freaking Cleveland. How many times did we settle for FGs in the red zone? No, I think we will win cause I flat out believe top to bottom we are simply better than Green Bay. From coaching on down to kicker. Yup, even Carney. But when I hear people talk about what we did against Cleveland, I just think damn, are we that desperate? It was Cleveland. The road only gets tougher from here.
|
Yea, Cleveland isnt the best team in the world, but they are not the worst and neither are we. They have some young explosive players that were kept in check, and their defense has some big names as well. Not are we going to kill Green Bay? No, we arent, its gunna be a dog fight similiar to the Browns, just with an experienced QB that has a good chance of rallying a comeback. We need to score early and often. Our defense played great last week, but can it happen again against a little more experienced and season squad. They do have some probowlers on offense. And lets not count Farve out, normally after this guy has a bag game, he comes out blaring, and you know McCarthy is gunna have some things up his sleeve for his former team......Saints 24 Packers 17

G.B. fans are saying "Oh SHI^! We are going to be 0-16...Wait...Do we play Oakland this year?"
|
Hey guys...I know its the first week and all but.....down here in Miami...the Herald releases a weekly stat sheets on all the teams and guess what....the Saints have the best defense in the NFC and 3rd overall!!!!!!!!!! (I know this announcement is premature but who cares....I am happy!!!) Screw the Packers...I don't care if they lost last week......we won't forget 52-3. We're comin Wisconsin....WE ARE COMIN'!!!!!! :biggun:

On another note......if you have NFl network....you are hooked. I TIVO'd the Saints game on NFL replay. It Rocks!!! The squeeze the game into an hour and a half. And on key plays they will not only show you the play and the replay but they will have the players commentating on the play as you watch it. Cool stuff for those of you who may not know about this. |
Yeah, I have DirecTv with Sunday Ticket and NFL Network of course. That NFL replay is the shizznit. But, in response to you saying the play never happened, well, NFL refs can call holding on just about every down in the NFL, but if they did, we would never complete a game. I say that to say, just like they called it, it could have also very well been a no call. Some of the most obvious penalties, like the hit on Trent Green that the NFL says WASN'T worthy of a penalty somehow, never get called. But it WAS called, and negated a TD. The point still stands.
|
Whodi I understand where you are coming from. It is true that the refs could have ignored it. I'm sure you not only saw the replay but studied it well. Frye made that throw only after he felt Smith's hand hit his shoulder pads. Now...he didn't just get rid of it there...he juked...stepped up.....and then released. My only point is that, although I can't explain how much weed the Db's were smoking on that play....Frye would have never even let the ball go had Smith not been held.
As for your point.....THANK GOD WE HAD GOOD REFS ON SUNDAY!!(minus the "stop the play" blunder with Bush) That last thing we needed was to have the same crew that did the Rams game last year. |

I'm not disagreeing with that you are saying, but I am saying 1) the TD happened and 2) it was called back due to a penatly. Whether Smith woulda got the sack if he wasn't held is speculation. Thank goodness for the penalty, and thank goodness for decent refs, like you said. Sometimes hometown teams get the benefit of calls like that, in that they are no calls. Regardless though, had that TD stood, different game. Hell, had they not fumbled going into halftime and scored the FG, different game. Other than that, we dominated, but those two plays alone could have changed the final result. That's what I am saying. Not really disagreeing with you on the technical aspects of what happened.
|
Well then whodi.....THANK GOD FOR THE GOOD REFS!!! LOLOL....I hope they can follow us around all year long!! ( i know they can't but damn....could you imagine?)
Good point ghandi!! |

Very interesting your points about the refs. However, wasn't it nice for a change to not have refs that only call holding on the Saints? It seems like especially when we play Atlanta, the refs are blind when it comes to holding by the Falcons. But God knows they've got to call everything from the Saints to protect Saint Vick. Thank God we've got Saint Bush!! |
To be fair to Cleveland, the Browns did quite a bit self-destructing to help the Saints win. Holding penalties, while pretty obvious and deserved because they altered the play outcome, killed them. A better o-line and the Browns would have cakewalked. Also, a dumb handoff cost them 3 points and a lazy receiver cost them the opportunity for a chance at the win.
I wouldn't get too ahead of myself because the Pack might just be better than the Browns. |

Fully agree with Wodi and Xan. As I mentioned elsewhere While the D looked good up front, our secondary can and will be easily exploited by better teams. Without looking most of the penalties given up where in the secondary, and Winslow had a field day with Harper inducing many of those penalties. Cleavland shot themselves in the foot on many drives. While it is nice to see a + in the turnover column for once our offense needs some improvement. I don't think Greenbays D will be able to stop our offence but if the passes are not crisper and more on the money to the widouts we could be in a shootout.

if it weren't because of the holding penalty, Fry would've gotten sacked -or at the very least hit- and wouldn't have completed that pass. Look at the replay. The fumble at th end of the half was forced by the Saints defense who broke into the backfield and swatted the ball out of Frye's hands. |
Once again, I am going by what did happen, and not what coulda happened. The facts are: There was a pass for 75 yards for a TD. It was called back on a penalty. The speculation is: Frye would have gotten sacked or knocked down. Here's some speculation: The tackle lines up correctly and Frye simply has the time to throw the ball. Did that happen? No? Well neither did a sack. A penalty negated a 75 yard TD pass. There's no disputing that.

it's kinda fun reading Packer boards...
The packers had better be ready for New Orleans. I watched the replay of their game against Clevelend and they looked very good. We need somebody who is fast to cover Bush catching passes out of the backfield. Something that I have been preaching all along. WE need to get the ball to Green and Franks on short passing routes. Bush is very dangerous as a runner, but I think we can contain him if we play tight and fast. Catching the ball is another matter. Poppingga, Barnett and or Hawk will not be able to stay with this kid and it will be BIG trouble. I say we need to put a safety or nickel back on him when we think they are going to him on a pass play. Our linebackers are too slow to stay with him and even a safety will have trouble. MM had better get these guys prepared because New Orleans has a very diversified offense this year and their defense kept pressure on Cleveland all day long. Brees is a very accurate passer and we have to pressure him with our D-line or it will be another LONG DAY for the Pack. This N.O. team is hungry and they have new weapons they never had before, so the Pack has to be alert all the time. Pickett and Allen, or Jenkins, and or Cole need to plug the middle because they use McAllister for power running and Bush for cutback and outside runs. Bush is very fast so he also poses a major problem for KJB and Kampy coming around the ends so Hawk and Poppingga need to help out and swarm to the ball. http://forums.packersnews.com/viewtopic.php?t=1897 |
Exactly. I know I've already said New Orleans has had a 50% roster turnover, but what impressed me have very few mistakes were made for a group of new guys just starting to play together. Especially the linebackers and O-Line. Our secondary I think is what might get us in trouble. But if we are consistent in our pressure in the backfeild, it will go a ways in masking it. Really Fred Thomas is reliable but nothing special. McKennsie is having problems. But the biggest thing is our offense is hard to defend because it is so multi-dimensional. And Bush is a big part of that. But Bush wouldn't nearly have as much impact if we didn't already have other talent. Just cutting down stupid mistakes we've been known for will win us a game or two. Cause we've been "in" games before were we mistaked ourselves right out of.

hey i am worried about his game. i guess i am the only one. their team has to be hurt after last week. they have to come out and play as good as they can to get the win. plus driver is no sluch. green looks like he can still run. their oline might be bad but i think this game is a tough one. i am a little worried.
|
green bay at the lamb is always a tough one. but with the stinky birds in town next week we better play well. this is a not going to be an easy game if the front 4 do not get pressure on brett.
|
I think the saints have to come out and be as physical as they were in week 1, and they have to get the ball into the endzone instead of kicking field goals, and if they do that, they win the game. The Packers have a team full of young guys, me-first vets, and Favre and Driver. I think the Pack is more than capable of hanging 30+ points on us this weekend if we dont bring our A-game. If we come to play...we win.
