this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; or close to it, they allowed well under 100 yards for the two games they played so far.. Should be ranked no worst than 2-3 for sure.....

Yeah. They almost certainly won't fare as well against Mexico and ATL but I don't see them putting 200 yards rushing on the board either.
Ahman Green and Reuben Droughns....two capable backs though. It's impressive that we've kept them in check. |

We've faced two top RB's and help both to a total of like 90 rushing yards, pretty good
If only the Pass D would look like that |

Shutting down any NFL team rushing is an accomplishment given that both teams made the run a priority against the Saints. However, neither opponent distinguished themselves in their losses in the run, but definitely hurt the Saints in the passing game, especially scrambling from a passing play.
I'll be impressed when we hold ATL to less than 150. We do that, we win and will officially be a wild card contender. |

I hope they shut down the Falcons running game.

Not trying to be a pessimist, just pointing out something obvious:
One of the reasons why our run D was so good today was because Brett Favre threw the ball almost 60 times for over 300 yards. Our secondary is going to have to step up and start making some plays to make this defense complete. But what a win! Geaux Saints! WHO DAT! |

We're currently ranked #6 in rushing defense. That could go up as Pittsburgh has only played one game. OMG, Baltimore has allowed 65 yards rushing total, over two games. Ray Ray is back.

1.7 yds per carry for Balt too. Smoking for my fantasy team, LOL.
Atlanta ahead of us too, 105 yds in 2 games, 3.3 per carry. Said it elsewhere, Monday could be much like this last game with both running games shutdown. I think it is more favorable for us in a slinging shootout with Vick throwing more than Farve though. |

This is good for us. To beat the Falcons you have to do three things: 1) Limit their running game. 2) Contain Vick and make him throw the ball. 3) Keep the receivers covered until Vick throws the ball. The running game won't be complete shut down, but it'll completely throw them off track. Dunn and Norwood are the keys here. If they get going, then the Falcon offense gets the balance they need to be productive. You have to shut those two down and keep Vick in front of you. The Falcon receivers cannot win the game for them. Even with Crumpler they are simply not there yet. So any team that can make Vick throw the ball has a chance to win the game. SFIAH |

Only Atlanta choked in an unchokable situation... Life is definitely good. |
