I think it's pretty safe to assume Donte wouldn't be here next year.
Right now, he is a better player than Colston. But was he so much better that the team would have a marked dropoff in wr production? Nope, not so far.
Getting Simoneau and a 3rd pick looks like a really good deal for NO right now. I don't see how this trade could turn out bad for NO as they got something of value for Donte now, don't lose much in the meantime, instead of losing him next year for nothing in return.
Donte's biggest knock was not dealing well with nagging injuries. We'll see if he suits up for all 16 games in Philly. His track record suggests he'll miss some time at some point during this year.

I can only say it this way...Donte......Good Riddance....Don't let the door hit ya where the good lord split ya...... We are and will be better without the guy. The young guys have done great, and will only improve. Besides, as someone said, Devry is Stallworth, but without the baggage. I'd rather have young and hungry over overrated and under achieving.

Donte doesn't appear to be overrated or underachieving in Philly. Funny how a change in coaching, QB, and philsophy can change that. And he just came right out the gate in Philly. How long did he practice with them, a week? Here's the problem, only one person is saying losing Donte was bad or it was a bad trade. Yet people feel like they need to put him down or something just cause someone may wanna see him do well elsewhere. Donte is SHOWING what he can do in a better system. It's unfortunate he never got that chance here, but what we have at receiver currently has proven to be just as good or better. Again though, to say Devery equals Donte is just silly. If that were the case, he'd be on the field in more than just a couple of third down situatuions. Donte is STARTING in Philly, no way Devery could be doing that right now.

All of whom have done pretty much nothing in their careers except be overhyped. Mike Williams is inactive in Detroit, who need all the offensive help they can get, Troy Williamson no longer has Caveman Culpepper, whose only ability was to throw the deep ball since he can't read coverages, Reggie Williams is turning into a bust while the converted QB lining up on the other side of him has done better in less time, and Michael Jenkins is the only one of that group finally showing some potential. Not exactly a ringing endorsement of Donte there. He also had a crucial drop late in the game for Philly last week; it didn't exactly seal the deal on the loss, but it definitely didn't help.

I personally like Donte and wish him all the best. He seems like a good kid and has tons of potential that may or may not have been hampered by the regime he was playing under for his whole career. But wideouts with great speed and iffy hands are interchangeable throughout the league; Devery might not be exactly on par with Donte but he's pretty damn close enough. Not to mention Simoneau has been solid and the current coaches are stockpiling mid-round draft picks like they're going out of style, which isn't a bad thing at all.

Of course, we can always revisit this in a year for a good old round of "I told you so!"

Not wanting to pick a fight here, but Donte has only had two games in Philly... I am not afraid to eat crow if need be, but I think character on a team is a major part of the winning attitude. If you cannot control yourself in real life, it is likely that you cannot act right within the team. i think what Payton did by letting Donte go was to try to build character within the team ranks. There is no doubt that Stallworth has talent. The problem is his ability to reach and maintain it. The eagles took a great receiver three years ago, and he eventually caused a team to implode (T.O). If....IF...Donte turns it around for good, and becomes that talent he was projected to be, then you can say I told you so. But.....two games does not a career make, and he has a lot to prove to show he is that talent he was projected to be. These young guys, with the right attitude can become consistent, which is somethinng Donte never was here. Plain and simple.

The etc. etc. etc. have done nothing their whole careers? Man, who are those guys? Point being, young receivers usally ALWAYS need to work. Where do people think the "it takes 3 years for a WR to yatta yatta yatta" come from? That's just how it goes. Donte is no different. Except his first ywo years were injury riddled, and he had a buffoon for a QB and buffoons for coaches. I mean, didn't Parcells say the same thing about Terry Glenn in NE? Same things were said about Javon Walker before his pro bowl year. It's NOTHING new and NOTHING special to Donte. And as far as Devery being close to Donte, every time I hear that I laugh a little harder. Silliest thing I have heard in a while.

Well, he isn't HERE any more. Also, what was consistent about his coaches and QB? Anything? I guess that counts for nothing. No need for I told you so, Donte is doing his thing now. Just watch him go. I don't know if you guys get the impression I am unhappy about the trade, cause for the 100x, I am not, not in the least. I am a fan of Donte's though and will always be gald when he is doing well.

Well, I was talking about the guys you rattled off. If you want to go through every etc. etc. receiver in the league, that might take a little while. And I don't think Devery is equal to Donte, just that they are cut from the same mold of receiver and those receivers are a dime a dozen around the league.

Same here, I hope he ends up like TO without the baggage. Philly's gone through about as much sports hell as we have.

Look guys.....it could have been worse. Remember Darren Howard? We got nothing. How about Dwight Smith? Again....nothing. We got something for a guy we all know was bailing next year. I much rather the fact that we got something for him this year than letting him walk next year for nothing. Do I think we may have been able to get more for him? Sure, but our FO isn't exactly "trade gurus".....so, I'm happy we got something in return. We have some good young receivers, one whom I think is a future superstar, so why are we crying over spilled milk? :?
