whodi, for my part, my assessment of the situation is purely anecdotal. I have not seen a source that quotes a Saints insider that said he was asking or about to ask for more money. However, he played at the #1 slot last season for 12 games, put up top 15 receiver numbers, if not top 10, and coming into the season, he had two more years on the contract. Based on moves other teams make, the timing and situation seemed similar for a trade. Plus, based on this front office's history, not making a deal with time to spare usually results in losing the player with no compensation. But I agree, purely observational and anecdotal. He couldn't have been that much of a lockerroom cancer given that he clearly had teammates who thought highly of him both personally and professionally.
