Do We REALLY Have A Chance?
All of the hype aside, when it comes down to what matters, can we really beat the Falcons on Monday?
I'm drinking before the game, I don't want to HAVE to drink afterwards. |
RE: Do We REALLY Have A Chance?
Well, regardless of what happens, I will drink before and after the game. The end result will determine if I drink happy or disgruntled after the game.
This is going to be a tough game. I really don't know if the Saints can stop the Falcons running attack. I guess we'll see. |
RE: Do We REALLY Have A Chance?
All I know is that if we do win this game.......the quarters will be rockin' after the game!
|
I am just hoping for a solid effort...the emotion and the crowd can only mask our weaknesses so much. Hopefully the Saints can pull off the upset, and it would be satisfying if they make it a good game...i just hope they dont come out and lay an egg.
|
8 in the box and stay in your lanes Vick aint gonna beat us with his arm
|
Yes we do.
We have a chance of winning. not a strong chance but a chance. There are so many new people and ideas, that the team doesn't know it's supposed to loose, yet.
If they can contain Vick and slow Dunn down in the first half, they will have a chance. The Saints have always played Tampa tough, but have always found a way to loose to Atlanta. I am looking forward to the game to see what they really have put togetheras a team. It's hard to believe what Atlanta did to Carolina and Tampa. Vick can be sporadic, and lets hope Monday is one of his off nights, and Brees is on fire, and the defense catches a few breaks--fumbles and interceptions. |

This years Saints have shown that they take pride in stopping the run. The other X factor is that the Falcons defense has not faced this offense, neither from a personnel or coaching standpoint. The Saints offense is the X factor of this game. The game hasn't been played. We have a chance. SFIAH |
win or lose, we now have a team that won't quit...........
imo, the most dangerous team is a team that won't quit.... i think the saints can beat the falcons straight up...... i keep wondering to myself, just how good or bad are tampa and carolina? both of these teams should have had their way with the falcons............. i won't predict overtime but will say the saints in a squeaker.................smitty 24-23 SAINTS WIN, SAINTS WIN, SAINTS WIN.................................... |
the key is stopping the run.... vick is not very good in the pocket, so won't really be able to beat us that way... however, the boy can run... fast, very fast..... brees has to be on this game.... they have a good secondary with adequate speed to stop bush (d. hall, esp.) so he's almost neutralized.... we'll have to grind it out for the first couple of drives, to establish play action and maybe that will open up the passing game for us.... the key though is stopping vick and dunn... although, crumpler is usually the person that kills us... we'll see.... we have to use everything possible to help us... the "katrina effect", the emotion, the fans, the homefield, etc.... we need it all....
|
We have as good a chance at winning this game as the Falcons do...
I strogly belive the Saints will win Monday night.. |

Of course there is a chance......havent you followed the history of this rivalry? They are notorious for playing close games with each other, regardless how good or bad either team is...
|
I was browning the Atlanta Falcons' messageboards. It scared me a bit. Hence, this thread.
I'm starting to realise how OVER-HYPED the Falcons are. Nobody is hyping our team, they all think we're going to lose. They're hyping up the game and the fact that the dome is opening once again. I'm just going to try to keep the FAITH. When I wake up tomorrow, I'm going to be full-throttle black and gold, though. |
I feel we do, anytime we play these guys its really our ballgame until the end, and we are always the underdogs
|
I think Abraham and Hartwell are questionable for the game. That helps.
|
If recent memory serves, the last few Saints/ Dirty Bird games have been decided by a margin of 3 pts. Where are my stats when I need em?
In other words, YES, we have bit more than a chance...let's call it a possibility. |
in a word, YES
All the intangibles in the world seem to be chanting Go Saints! this week. Intangibles is somethig Payton seems to have a very good sense of and making use of. Putting the gris-gris on Abraham. Looks like it is working already on Hartwell. Now who next? :red: |
Here's what I'm thinking:
Yes, of course we have a chance. Historically, we always play the Falcons close, even if we're not as good of a team. That alone tells me that the game should be a good one. Also, this is going to be the most electric atmosphere of any event that comes to mind. Besides maybe 9/11 games in NYC, I don't know of a sporting event that is going to have so much meaning to a single city. I wish so badly I could be there, but I'm just glad our team is back at home. Remember what happened last season when we played the Panthers in Week 1. We were awful last season, and pure emotion was enough to help us beat one of the best teams in the NFL. We're better this year, and I think there's going to be more emotion than last season, so it bodes well. |
We'll win if and only if the players can ignore all the bs surrounding the homecoming and play smart, disciplined football.
You can sneak up on people in the first two weeks of the season, but by week 3, most if not all your mystery has been debunked. I don't think that the Saints will have as hard a time as the Panthers and the Bucs had against the Falcon rush, but they'll still get 200 yards. That may not be enough to win, however. |
I have faith in Payton, he'll have this team ready to play. It won't be easy but I look for the Saints to play well above their heads tonight. They know how important this is to the city and it's people. With so much riding on this game I can't see the Saints not winning.
|
either the Saints win in a squeaker, or the Falcons run us out of the Dome.
|
I think this game will depend on if the Falcons DB's are up to taking our passing game out of the equation. If they do then it will be over with by the 3rd quarter.
Paul |
Three reasons why the Saints can win the game:
1) They won a similiar emotion-filled game against Carolina right after the storm last year, on the road. 2) Carolina last year is better than Atlanta this year. Last years Panthers made it to the NFC Championship game, I do not see the Falcons of this year doing the same. 3) The '06 Saints are much better than the '05 version. I hope the Saints win tonight. |
Atlanta isn't overhyped! They are a really good squad, but they aren't bound for the superbowl! New Orleans has proved one thing so far this year..They play four quarters and get everyone involved. New Orleans has a roster full of good players who seem to know their roll. I think they can be disciplined and contain the Falcons running game. Atlanta is a one deminsional team, but what they do, they do well. It will come down to how disciplined the Saints are for four quarters. We need a big break or two, and I think we have a good shot at winning! It is my belief that N.O. will need to run the ball well and keep the Falcons offense on the sidelines and burn some clock. This could be the game that Reggie showcases his talents and do something really electra-fying!
|
27-21 Falcons over Saints... as long as we make a good showing out of it, I'll be happy. It would be great if we won, but I won't be disappointed if we can keep it close. The Falcons are a damn good team. We have to make Vick beat us by throwing the ball... keep 8 men in the box.

As for the rest of you, nice spirit! Tell the doubters to go back to New England, or Hell, or wherever they are from! Geaux Saints! |

look at these faithless "fans"

RE: Re: Do We REALLY Have A Chance?
I don't have to explain my fanhood to you. There's nothing about you that makes you more of a fan then I. You know nothing of me, so don't even bring that here.
Nice 'Desperation' logo, by the way. |

There are only two teams that I like in the NFL: My favorite team is the San Diego Chargers, but I LIVE for the Saints. I am Black and Gold. You're just being rediculous and trying to be an ass on purpose. I fill out my Yahoo! Pro Football Pick'em every week and I've yet to pick the Saints to lose. That just shows how much you know about me - I actually picked the Saints to win the game. |
