This thought by Halo in another thread was a good conversation starter in itself I thought-

There's always been lots of criticism of Loomis in general, but now with Haslett out of the picture, was this last offseason the best we've seen in years? Look at our new blood. He say what you want about Stallworth, he never produced for us. Look at how all these new people, including Brees, are producing results.

The last offseason does confirm IMO that Loomis does defer to the HC greatly in personnel matters. The MO of the players in the past few years was very consistent- great athletes, many undisciplined, all not hard workers, and some with questionable locker room character. It seems the new regime is almost the anti type of all those things. So Loomis may be neither here nor there in player knowledge but needs a good staff of evaluators to lean on. Kudos for hiring what so far looks like a good guy. Kudos for letting someone else have the bottomline if you know player judgement isn't your forte. Kudos for good cap management. I have bad mouthed him in the past myself. It does seem like it was more Haz in the past if success with the new leadership continues. Another off season with free agent acquisition and draft as good as this last one and this franchise will truly be on the fast track to long lasting success.
