this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; I'm so sick about hearing that the game was thrown because they felt sorry for us. If that was the case, we would have won more than three games last year. I know this game was bigger, but come on. ...

I'm really sick of this...
I'm so sick about hearing that the game was thrown because they felt sorry for us. If that was the case, we would have won more than three games last year. I know this game was bigger, but come on. The Falcons are professionals and so are the Saints. And to hear this talk is ridiculous.

Savant, don't worry about Bro, that's just part of it when a team is successful as we are now, we just need to keep winning and then the people will have respect for us, we'll have to earn it though..
Go Saints. |

RE: I
You'll find that lots of Saints fans are so used to having a bad team, they have a hard time letting that notion go. It's become a habit to downplay our success as a way to prepare for the day when it all falls apart.
Saints fans have had very few, if any, opportunities to learn how to be winners. As an eternal optimist, I start every year believeing we're gonna win the Superbowl!! Especialy this year!! |

RE: I
Well, it's not from Saints fans. I read it on some Falcons forum and a lil (not too much) on a Panthers site. Usually it wouldn't bother me that much, but it's just disrespectful to the team and the fans. They clearly weren't ready for us. Yes emotion (by the way, I heard that way too much) played a part, but we were better prepared hands down. I don't wanna hear they threw the game, and I don't wanna hear we won off emotion. Now that being said and the Panthers ahead of us, they won't be a easy win either. I say that for the fact that no win is easy in the NFL. They is so much in condition, studying, discipline that is really in the end what wins you games. To me that's what gave the Patriots so much sucess early in this decade. They weren't the most talented team and there were more emotional home crowds, but they were well coached and played smart. We have that now. We're through with shooting ourselves in the foot and shrugging it off. If other teams wanna win, they're gonna have to beat us straight up. Also I should note that some Falcons fans scoff at the idea that they threw the game.

We earned that win and dominated in every aspect of the game. People can say what they want, if they watched it, they'll realize our game plan for the game was outstanding.

RE: I
Everyone I know at work and my friends said it was a great game an that the Saints dominated. Most put the crwod and emotions as secondary to a great game plan.

RE: I
Yeah....and now, according to the NFL network guys, we have to beat Carolina & be 4-0 to be considered a legitimate team. Go figure!

RE: I
I'll give them that our first two games were verses bad teams, but they were still WINS. This win should have allowed people to think of the Saints as a mediocre team with wildcard aspirations. With a win verses Carolina they'll say Carolina isn't that good this year (1-3 record) and even beating Tampa won't get us respect (0-4 record). It'll take a win against the Eagles and a record of 6-0 to get any respect nationally.
Even then there will be people who show our post bye schedule and say we'll lose most of those and miss the playoffs. I'm tired of looking for respect from the national media, let them swoon over a bad New England team, or a mediocre Pittsburgh team. That lets true fams like us not have to worry about bandwagoners. |

RE: I
If we go 5-0 then lose to Philly they'll call us possers. It happens year in and year out.
