TO Hospitalization Now Called Suicide Attempt
According to a Dallas Police report obtained by news 8, Dallas Cowboys star receiver Terrell Owens attempted suicide Tuesday night. The report also says that Owens was depressed and reportedly took prescription pain pills. A woman companion observed him putting two pills in his mouth. The woman says the prescription of 40 pills was filled on September 18th and until yesterday he'd taken only five pills. According to the police report, Owens was asked if he'd taken the rest of the prescription. Owens said yes. According to the report, police also asked if he was trying to harm himself. Owens answered yes. Terrell Owens was treated at Baylor University Medical Center.
http://www.wfaa.com/ We knew he was screwed up but this is sad. The bad part is I cannot stand the endless TO blabber in sports news as it is. Now, it might as well be the TO network. |

Dallas Cowboys receiver Terrell Owens was reportedly hospitalized Tuesday night after what is being called an allergic reaction to pain medication. FOX News is reporting that Owens may have attempted suicide. FOX News Channel says that KDFW/Channel 4 in Dallas initially made this claim. KTVT/Channel 11 is reporting that a woman named "Etheridge," likely Owens' publicist Kim Ethridge, called police and reported a suicide attempt. The station said Owens ingested 35 pills. According to the Dallas Police Department incident report, Owens told police he took more than 30 pills in a suicide attempt. A news conference is scheduled for later today during "working hours." http://www.postchronicle.com/news/or...21241567.shtml and- http://www.dfw.com/mld/dfw/sports/football/15620551.htm |

Cowboys | Owens' publicist says he did not attempt suicide Wed, 27 Sep 2006 08:33:10 -0700 Updating an ongoing storyline, ESPN's Ed Werder reports Dallas Cowboys WR Terrell Owens' publicist said Owens did not try to attempt suicide. His publicist said Owens was groggy when asked questions by the first response unit and there was a miscommunication because he of it. During a press conference, the Dallas Police Department would not confirm or deny Owens attempting suicide. The Cowboys have called a press conference for the afternoon to discuss the situation. Owens has already been ruled out for the team's Week 4 game. ----as the world turns... one part fits to me... people that "attempt" suicide are desperate for attention. People that commit suicide are legitimately depressed or bear some psychosis. |

Some people just don't react well to prescription pain medication. But, having said that, it is really hard to OD if you've taken just a couple. And it's not usual for people to take additional, even way too many pills, if the pain from the first several pills has reduced the intensity. Taking the whole bottle is not the act of a person who is in control of his/her life.
Too bad for TO, but wake me if he dies, otherwise, don't persist with this story. |
