Vikings | McKenzie released
Sat, 2 Sep 2006 15:11:57 -0700 Sean Jensen, of the Pioneer Press, reports the Minnesota Vikings have released LB Kyle McKenzie Kyle McKenzie Grade: 3.21 Position: OLB Class: Sr School: Minnesota Conference: Big Ten Ht., Wt.: 6-0.5, 230 40 Time: 4.67 BIO: Three-year starter who also saw action with the first-team as a freshman. Recorded 56/4/1 as a senior after leading the team with 79 tackles during his junior campaign. POSITIVES: Hard-working, productive linebacker who plays bigger and faster than his numbers. Smart, diagnoses the action and stays with assignments. Fast off the edge on the blitz, nicely collapses from the outside defending the run and is quick filling gaps up the field. Can backpedal in coverage and displays skill in zone. NEGATIVES: Slow shedding blocks at the point and gets caught up in the trash moving laterally. Lacks a quick or sudden change of direction. ANALYSIS: Productive on the college level, McKenzie could fit a 34 defense or one-gap system which allows linebackers to freely flow to the action. PROJECTION: Undrafted Free Agent http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/foo...ayers/339.html Seahawks | Syptak waived from team Sat, 2 Sep 2006 17:34:44 -0700 The Seattle Seahawks announced DL John Syptak has been waived from the team John Syptak Grade: 2.98 Position: OLB Class: 4Sr School: Rice Conference: Western Athletic Ht., Wt.: 6-1.5, 241 40 Time: 4.7 BIO: All-Conference selection as a senior after leading the team with 72/9.5/3.5. Posted 69/15/8 as a junior after 81/12/4 as a sophomore, when he first broke into the starting lineup. POSITIVES: Hard-working collegiate defensive end with potential at linebacker. Quickly gets off the snap with a good first step, keeps his pads low and displays a fluid change of direction. Wedges between blocks and plays with reckless abandon. NEGATIVES: Easily knocked from his angle of attack or handled at the point. Likes to pin his ears back, take off up the field and then overruns the action. ANALYSIS: A fiery competitor productive on the college level, Syptak must learn to be effective in reverse to have any chance of sticking at the next level. PROJECTION: Undrafted Free Agent http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/foo...ers/47967.html |
